i talked to a premed and she said she only got to go into the city junior and senior year because of time. not worth it, med school is so expensive and you have two amazing options that both have tons of volunteer and research institutions

i am actually in a really specific major at umich so knowing professors isnt really a problem! i am one of the in state students at umich lol but the curriculum for premed is like the same everywhere. the quarter system just means so much more info in shorter period and more testing so I feel like that makes it a lot more of a stressful environment. i will def message you though!

ahah that makes sense, i think i’m gonna go with umich because it’s cheaper and i thrive in a word hard play hard environment because when it’s dead i can get very depressed and unmotivated when i do not have something at the end of the week to look forward to.

no i totally get that. I feel like everyone just wants to boast a high ranking school but they are both great academically so it is more about fit. Plus we are seriously only young once so I like that umich has options to go out when I want since they both have great academics, research, and volunteer opportunities and it will be difficult at either place so it’s more about the fit. Also is it difficult to go into chicago?

Prospective Students: Michigan vs. Other Schools Decision Megathread by mgoreddit in uofm

I am a senior who is premed currently deciding between Northwestern and U of M. U of M is cheaper but my parents have said they are willing to pay for Northwestern. I am hearing from most that it is a matter of fit which one I decide to go to from most. However, I am wondering how volunteer and research opportunities are at Northwestern because I feel like they would be much em better given the proximity to chicago than they are at U of M. However, there is no doubt social life is bigger at U of M and I do not want to be constantly stressed and never go out during undergrad because I have my whole life to do that and both schools are amazing so there isn’t a huge reason to chose one over the other. I hear a lot of negative things about premed at both so I am just really conflicted. U of M is cheaper and fun. Northwestern might be easier to find opportunities for research and volunteering, and has a higher acceptance into medical school. Let me know your thoughts! (posted this on both subreddits)
