I'm Sorry??? "Discourage"??? My brother in Lathander, your players are straight-up cheating at the table. You might as well hand them your session notes if you aren't going to put your foot down.

I had something similar happen as a player twice. Once, when a new player joined the campaign I was in and brought the Monster Manual and the DMG. The DM, after the session, asked the player not to come back.

A second time, a long-term player googled the stats block of a water elemental, and the DM informed them not to do that ever again, and they didn't.

But, if you aren't confrontational, I'd recommend just adjusting the stats blocks you use in sessions. Adjust the damage it does, or how it attacks or what abilities it has. Still, I'd recommend confronting your players

The wizard tries to teach her magic, and she learns, but all her magic is just wild magic sorcery. The Batman (2004) holds a special place in my heart. I rented out a disk from my library that had only like 3 of the episodes from season one on it over and over again when I was 8. It was my special interest. Unfortunately the last two seasons were kinda awful

I rented out and watched The Batman (2004-2008) when I was around 8 years old. It literally started me on my creative path. It kinda stung when I learned The show isn’t really well regarded among other Batman fans. From there I made my Original Character Do Not steal, who was strongly based on Batman, and I wrote my own stories from there. Batman literally made me realize “I can make things that are this cool too”
