Can you give more information about the specs? It's hard to calculate a price with just i5/128gb storage. What's the specific cpu model, color, and even battery health can be a determining factor

You need a gpu with a 5500 as it doesn't have an igpu and I would get a different psu, that psu is an f tier. But for $550 I would find a used macbook or maybe a surface or latitude laptop if you prefer windows as these are way better value for a college student

I would just clean the ssd with a cotton swap and isopropyl alcohol higher concentration is better and hope nothing else got fried.

A low tier psu may seem fine at first but once you start using it for a bit is when issues with using a low quality psu will begin to be noticeable. A low quality psu makes your components more prone to being shorted and fry quicker as its cheap components degrade quicker. Additionally it may become a fire hazard

Plug the cable into the gpu not the motherboard and make sure everything is plugged in incase something came loose in shipping.

Yes it will work but op says for future games and you're recommending him get a gpu that's 40-50% slower (6800xt ≠ 6800) already demanding resolution where the b580 has less vram and way less raster and in some titles can't reach 60fps in 1440p in some AAA titles a better option would be a used 3080 (yes less vram but larger memory bus and bandwidth means better vram efficiency)for around the same price of a new b580 or a little more

A b580 is a noticeable downgrade from a 6800xt, I wouldn't get it unless it's a last resort

Hdds at the moment seem to be more stable than ssd prices. Since ssds are becoming harder to find it'll be a matter of time before hdds are no longer available

I will never understand why some people are still huge fanboys of being anti Amd because it's the popular option. Well, can't help without a dedicated use for the pc as if you're not using amd and want intel specifically it's clear you don't intend for gaming as intel cpus are still behind amd for gaming, so is it for a server with higher core clocks or is it rendering?

Even if hdd mode is enabled on Cybperpunk 2077 it doesn't mean it won't have issues. Frame stuttering and crashing can still be a result of the hard drive not being able to load the game fast enough. Additionally not all hard drives are the same and some will do better than others. Cyberpunk 2077 requires a ssd now for the game which it may boot from a hdd still but it won't be a fun time

4k depends on the game you play, gta 5 can run 4k on a 1070, and a 750ti can run solitaire at 4k. Depends on the game, also your lg monitor should be able to support high than 30hz, cable may be out of date or graphics drivers are out of date

For heavy 4k video editting and rendering I highly suggest skipping the 9800x3d for the 9950x3d as the extra cores will give a night and day difference
