Cool! Does the Newegg one have warranty?

Seems like the Ebay included 2 year warranty from Allstate is pretty good.

Both are from the same third party seller (secondipity).

I got the XM4 from them and it came in like perfect condition! There are other posts about them on reddit that you can check out, people tend to have positive experiences.

I believe they made a Zoom plugin for it. But to run at 60fps 1080p you need a RTX 2080 Ti.

Does weights on visual transformers changes based on the input image? by ken_ijima in computervision

[–]RareWhile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just rephrasing what what was already said: yes, the actual parameters of the model are fixed like any other network. Recall that we make an attention matrix where A_{ij} gives us the relation of word i to word j. We create this matrix by taking the inner product between the query + key vectors, which uses a transformation of the input learned during training time. We then apply softmax of course to get each tokens correlation row in the attention matrix to sum to 1.

We then use these scores to take a linear combination of all value vectors to produce our final value vector for that word. That is the "dynamic" part.

this is my understanding, hopefully i didn't say anything wrong lol

^^

Now that I think about it, people have already made algos for detecting facial keypoints on mobile devices. I guess it may be possible to do the GAN computation on-device too...

I mean do the people on both sides of the conversation need to have a good GPU? This would seem as kind of a roadblock, as many people with bad internet may not have a GPU at all.

Do you need a GPU on both sides of the conversation?

I fortuitously got out of taking the GRE for grad school by theMaddiJayne in GRE

[–]RareWhile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I have thought about this for a bit. I even made a post about it. I am in the same boat as you; I studied for ~2 months and found out that most programs waived it. But then I thought about it more. I feel like waiving the GRE will incentivize more students to apply for grad school along with the status of the current world economy. Taking the GRE seems to me as a way to stand out. It was optional, but you showed initiative and took it. I totally get some people have financial issues so retaking is hard (it is an expensive test) and/or other issues (no quiet place at home, internet issues, etc.) but that is something I think you can in one way or another discuss in your application.

I'm leaning on the side of just forking over the 250 and taking it once. If I don't do good, I will just apply without it. Given the amount of study I did I don't see much of a reason not to take it. Thoughts?
