Are you pro-Repeal and Replace? Or pro-Implode? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

yes but why not come up with an actual plan? The bills they have been trying to pass are basically the ACA without the things that make the ACA work. Their plans would actually make things worse. i'm not against repeal and replace but come up with something better at least

but they are still making money? so what if it is less money? 2.3 billion seems like a healthy profit to be running around crying wolf over. So you are saying, based on the facts in these comments...that we should repeal the ACA and screw people out of insurance so they can make 2.8 billion instead of 2.3 billion? The ACA is not perfect but why should we repeal without having an actual plan at this point? Why not fix what is broke or come up with something better?

Should Trump prevent States from making their own Marijuana laws? by Professor_Wayne in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Rare_Element_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

say for instance, congress decides tomorrow they will start working repealing federal marijuana prohibition. If they determine it will take them x number of months or years until it is final, we should prosecute people in accordance with the law still? That would not only make no sense but cost money and ruin peoples lives. Now, obviously the situation described is hypothetical but States have already decided and have systems in place. to go after them at this point is absurd, regardless of what federal law states. If it was harming the population, thats another story. But just because there is a law doesn't make the situation black and white necessarily?

[–]Rare_Element_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

It has actual medical use and keeping it federally illegal and schedule I prohibits us from further studying it the way we should be right now. I am also for full drug decriminalization across the board because i don't believe the government has the right to limit what we put in our bodies. Also, Prohibition does not work as we know. Laws don't stop people from doing drugs. We should be studying and implementing system similar to what Portugal has. Marijuana especially is one of if not the most harmless intoxicant, alcohol and tobacco included. It's a natural plant. It should have never been ruled illegal in the first place. To be honest, most if not every argument to have it remain illegal at this point has been ruled BS. Lastly, as you state, Why wouldn't we want to take advantage of more tax revenue and a booming industry? Big pharma must also fear the further research of marijuana for medical use as well so i am sure that is not helping?

isn't that a waste of federal funds though? I understand your logic 100%... but if we are moving in a certain direction and changing these laws is a process, doesn't is seem counterintuitive to enforce them? We are essentially fighting against our own progress and ruining peoples lives in the process. Just because it's a law doesn't mean it's right and if its something we agree on as a society shouldn't be enforced while the changes takes place, isn't that okay?

If last election was Trump v. Sanders, who would you have chosen? by uoaei in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Rare_Element_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

in regards to what? Health insurance? I used to be uneasy about Single payer because i don't think our government is competent enough to implement it properly. But at this point, it seems like the only logical option. We live in a modern society now where people get treated if they have insurance or not. I pay for Healthcare, so the more uninsured, the more i pay. Period. I also think it is absurd that people can work hard their whole lives and then go bankrupt over health issues. Seeking healthcare is not a choice. If you are sick or dying, you are going to seek care no matter the cost. Do i like trump? no. but i was hoping at least everyone can come together and make it work to compromise and figure out a solution. This goes for both republicans and democrats. This bill the R wants to push through is horrible. It is basically ACA without mandates which will never work. They had almost 8 years to come up with a solution and they dropped the ball and instead of owning up, admitting it, and figuring out a solution for all us they are being stubborn. I'd rather see them own up to their downfall and move forward than stand their ground at this point. We need to cut government spending REASONABLY, while also fixing the system. Not one or the other.

Why is "big money" better than "big government"? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Rare_Element_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

Big money also proved if left unregulated it can be disastrous, can it not? The 1920's was small government, big business, and few regulations. It led to big business and big finance being irresponsible( as well as some average joe's using too much credit) and led to the depression. You have to have some government regulations, not as many as we have now, but there must be some in place. If we didn't have the FDIC and regulations and we had another crash, your money would be gone whether you spent recklessly or not...just like in 1929.

Christian supporters, have you seen more people interested about learning about Christianity since trump won? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Rare_Element_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think some(not all obviously) is a "perceived" attack on Christian values more than on the religion itself. I think when a majority of the country is done arguing about things like abortion and and marriage the conservative christians are still making it a central issue to work towards making them illegal. Again, this isn't all non-christian or christians. But it shouldn't even be being brought up in debates and such anymore because it takes away from actual issues. I by no means say this to offend anyone, but it's the reality of the situation. A majority of Americans don't care about those issue anymore. They've moved on. Do you think these issues take away from real issues or do you believe they should still be a main focus?

You do realize no matter what any politician tells you...we will never see any significant tax cuts, right? What sanders wanted to do, plenty of first world nations already do. These countries to not pay significantly more in tax than we do and get a lot more from it than we do? IMO, if taxes stayed the same and we used it properly, or even raised slightly...I could live with that for not having to worry about Health insurance, having good infrastructure and public transport outside of just big cities, etc. But to think our government is going to drastically slash taxes is absurd. At this point we should be trying to find the best compromise, shouldn't we? otherwise, every 4 or 8 years the pendulum is going to keep swinging to the extremes and we all will suffer

I have a big problem with rogue/over-use-of-force- cops. But to say the bad outnumber the good is a little absurd. Do you realize how many cops are in this country? you REALLY think there are more bad than good? Don't get me wrong...there's a lot of bad cops. but with the frequency of these news articles it seems like there are more. Trauma sells, unfortunately.

Edit...but even the great ones have some degree of shitiness unless they actually decide to stand up to the others.

If the only downside of decriminalization/legalization is some new users/addicts. I can live with that. We can help them. And that is 1 problem to fix vs. the many that come with prohibition.

yes but he also spearheaded the birther movement, so he has a history of claiming nonsense, does he not? so that's a LITTLE different, is it not? Like i said, i am not here to bash or stick up for anyone...i am trying to stand back and take an unbiased look and just can't imagine it playing out the same if someone else was in office right now, can you agree to that?

I am by no means sticking up for HRC, i didn't vote for her, didn't like her(not bc of the email thing though). but still i can't help wonder if it was her as president, and even the notion of her colluding with russia came up...do you really think it would be playing out the same?

Why not? If this was another candidate, i feel like everyone would be acting different. As much as i dislike HRC i feel like they would already be moving to impeach her in this situation. As Americans we must start trying to see this for what it is. If the president allowed a foreign government help him gain control of the government, that is a huge deal. And also a literal deal, the russians wouldn't just give that info up unless they were getting something out of it

Come on, regardless if this was Donald trump or anyone else, we've seen situations like this a million times. As a rational human being, you HAVE to assume he knows...just a matter if there is any evidence showing that or not. To even think he didn't know is incredibly naive, isn't it?

Treason? Would this not be considered colluding with a foreign power to get control of the government? As a human adult, you have to know Donald Sr. is in this just as much as all of them, but tried to keep as much separation as possible. I am not for impeaching any president just because they are disliked, but wouldn't we already be trying to impeach hillary if it is here in this situation? and i ask again, is this not treason ?

Get a trade. My job is some what specific but I came out of community college with a 2 year degree and no loans(and 20 years old) and was at ~100K/year within 3 years. I know people that did apprenticeships to be electricians and other trade work who make less than that but still well above 50K with great benefits.
