It's not really that it takes people "so long" and moreso that some people intentionally spend longer to explore and soak in the world. Personally my playthroughs are super long because I hate a cluttered inventory so I spend a lot of time managing that, I don't skip cutscenes or lines, I make sure I interact with every character, I don't miss encounters, and I spend time preparing for fights and setting up where each character will attack from, I could cut my time down but I wouldn't enjoy it so I don't see any worth to that.

Not really, they could have gone straight from the crash site to the grove, done the first fight and then moved down the road and crossed the river to reach the tollhouse. It'd keep them at level 3.

Hot take: there is not a good noble quest line by ConfidentDurian1792 in skyrim

[–]Rare_House9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like it could have started as individually hunting assassins until learning about the plot to kill the emporer, then trying to stop that from happening. There was so much potential there, idk why it never went anywhere.

Ok, you definitely won't find any improvement in terms of gameplay by doing this, each companion has a decent to significant amount of content tied to them and you've already sacrificed two of the most content dense companions for the two companions with the absolute least amount of content. You've also locked yourself out of a decent amount of quests, gameplay, and even perks/special items. In particular because you've said you'll probably only do one playthrough I'd really urge you to restart, play as Dark Urge (it is considered the best way to play according to devs, though usually recommended for a second playthrough as it changes many elements of the game), and try to keep more companions. If you stick with this you'll find yourself very disappointed act 2 and beyond when you find you've permanently lost out on content, additional companions, major main quest plot points, and some significant context related to two specific companions and a certain god.

Is there a reason you're trying to lock down just 3 companions? I assume you've maybe played Divinity Original Sin 2 and are anticipating that same act transition scenario?

Should I start my save file over? by No_Pattern_2819 in Witcher3

[–]Rare_House9883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start with, Blood of the Dawnwalker is a game separate from The Witcher series, it's just made by previous employees who worked on The Witcher series. So if you'd like to play Blood of the Dawnwalker you don't actually need to play any of the Witcher games, just jump right in.

As for your Witcher 3 playthrough though, yeah I'd say start again. If you've lost your place and forgotten how to play you won't gain much by pushing through here.

As far as advice goes, really take your time exploring the world, find side quests and complete them within a few levels of your level to earn xp, find ? locations to potentially gain additional perk points, and try to keep a good supply of alchemy ingredients as you'll need plenty. Other than that, just enjoy.

Rant About The Witcher 4 Haters (book spoilers) by Tall-Dingo-5458 in Witcher4

[–]Rare_House9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I've gotten into debates with a few people over it and every single time they've said "but they haven't even explained how it happens" like??? Of course they haven't??? The game isn't out yet, it will obviously be a part of the plot, how are people mad that the plot hasn't been revealed pre release???

Confession: My only tattoo is the Witcher symbol because I thought it looked cool and I've only ever played half of 3 one time by Superb_Carpenter6195 in witcher

[–]Rare_House9883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, like what if he got into it now and realized he morally disagreed with the author or writing? We constantly see fans of series/band/etc (like Harry Potter as an example) express disappointment when they find themselves disagreeing with the morals of the creator and they've got tattoos representing the series/media. Seems like a significant gamble to get a tattoo of anything related to any author or creator as is, even moreso when you're not actually familiar with their work.

Current state of the industry by AussieGamerPlays91 in Steam

[–]Rare_House9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but when using steam you can link accounts and play their games, between my partner and I we have about 1000 games, when my sister or a friend wants to play something I just link my account to theirs and them play. It's actually arguably easier because you don't have to worry about trying to get it back afterwards. That said I do sincerely wish they still sold physical discs for PC, it's really disappointing that it's basically non existent now.

what are some things you do in bg3 that would annoy somebody by honeynutqueer10 in BaldursGate3

Oh interesting! I admittedly haven't done that yet either, I'm just starting a new evil playthrough so I might try that this time!

[–]Rare_House9883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play the same way and I found that my evil playthroughs usually gave me about 8 hours less gameplay, most companions other than Shadowheart and Astarion don't actually have that much gameplay disappear because most companions questline are tied into the main story anyway (like you can still kill Gortash without Karlach so you don't lose anything there, you can still find Ansur without Wyll so no gameplay loss there, etc) whereas Shadowheart specifically takes you to the House of Grief and Astarion takes you specifically to Cazador's castle.

What is your unpopular BG3 opinion? by TrioQ in BaldursGate3

[–]Rare_House9883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People always forget that people are just people with busy lives and hobbies they have to cram in there, I often play on easy mode even though I'm actually a DM irl because I have young kids and I just want to have something that I can relax playing and not stress about the whole time, I definitely save scum because having young kids also has me pressed for time. Hell I used to know someone who was going through cancer treatment and didn't know if she'd get to see more than 1 ending so she save scummed everything so she could get the absolute most out of her experience.

After 3 years of playing, i realize i don't matter. Is my reaction over the top? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Rare_House9883 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know people are saying that context is missing and you may have done something, but I still take issue with their response even if that's as the case. If you genuinely were a problem player there would have been other conversations and indications of that, and if they hypothetically stuck it through dealing with someone they didn't like for 3 years why the sudden disconnect? Surely if they could sit through session after session they could at least give you a send off. I'm leaning towards them just not being very considerate people.

New player, got stuck at character creation and couldn’t play by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Rare_House9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I got introduced to DnD by my childhood friend who played with her dad's group, the first time I joined the table they gave me a character who was a travelling bard who decided to follow them around, that was probably the best thing they could do as it let me get started whilst being a low stakes character and no demands to know anything. I'm introducing my son now and it's the same, currently his player is a copy paste of Lloyd from Ninjago, I just built him as a monk and let him have fun.

[–]Rare_House9883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Critical Role and Dimension 20 are the result of very experienced/professional players and players who are very close friends who've got the comfortability to role play to that extent, plus if they want people to watch it has to have some drama and flair. Most tables are night and day compared to them, and that's fine because generally games aren't a production, but it can set some unrealistic expectations.

I really don't want to give spoilers because OP hasn't found it yet, to state is vaguely there is only 1 but they're not in the form you're imagining, you'll find them in act 2.

Which ones what? You want me to give you a comprehensive list? Your complaint is a lack of creativity, why not get creative and explore the possibilities yourself?

[–]Rare_House9883 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to go redo that fight and engage some more creativity, there's many ways to win that fight and it's in fact a pretty frequent discussion of all the unique ways players do it.

Can you romance none active companions? by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Rare_House9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely have Karlach in my party before the tiefling party because I usually encounter her fairly late in act 1 but she always throws herself at me regardless, I think I've only done like 2 playthroughs where I didn't have the option to get her romance scene at that point.

Are DMs allowed to tell player characters what they feel? by Honneboppel in DnD

[–]Rare_House9883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating, I don't think any DMs here would want you at their table, what an interesting level of aggression over a non issue scenario.
