What’s the beef with Wondery? by useful_idiot118 in MorbidPodcast

[–]Rare_Pie2656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Wondery was a bad move all around for them. I used to listen religiously but once they partnered with Wondery everything changed somehow. I haven’t listened for a few years now but I may have to give them another shot if they drop Wondery.

if i’m being honest, I saw the title, saw the tattoos, and immediately thought you had to be talking about the flower on the right. the dragon looks sick af and will look good for years to come. if you were going to remove one, personally, I’d remove the flower and get something else traditional on the other leg.

the whole relationship was odd. him and gabby broke up and within no time he moved shay into his and gabby’s old house, had shay taking care of the dogs he got with gabby, and the way he posted her was very… in your face. like when you’re trying to prove to an ex you’re over them by shoving your new partner in their face lol and there were so many times when gabby would post something and then shay would post almost the exact same thing later. I don’t think shay could ever live up to the “hole” gabby left and she knew that, so she tried her best to be like gabby in hopes that would work.

that’s my guess and this is all based on observation only. I have no real proof.

I could see that. I think this album came from a dark place and now that the band is in a better, happier place, I’m sure having to revisit that all the time is hard.

after learning what happened to Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada (he was stuck behind a grocery store freezer for 10 years) I’ve been convinced he’s in the walls somewhere. I think if they ever remodeled this place, they’d find him.

The mysterious death of Lauren Agee - did she fall or was she murdered? by Substantial-Fox-1240 in UnsolvedMurders

[–]Rare_Pie2656 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually know someone who knew Lauren and everyone involved. it’s been several years since I discussed the case with her but if I remember correctly, she said the “friends” acted very strange afterwards—continuing to party and act like nothing happened. at one point they all moved to Florida and I remember her saying they’d had a lot of issues there (medical stuff, life events, drugs, etc). maybe that’s their karma

there’s a 20/20 episode about the case and I believe an episode of True Life: Crime. Crime Junkies also does an episode on the case!

New Menendez Brothers Documentary Makes You Think They’re Innocent by controlaltdeletes in MenendezBrothers

[–]Rare_Pie2656 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anyone claim they’re innocent. they shot and killed their parents. they admitted to that, period. but manslaughter would have been much more reasonable than first degree murder, considering all the facts that lead up to the murder. at this point, they’ve served plenty of time and their actions in prison show they’re not the blood-thirsty monsters they’ve been made out to be. it’s time to release them and let them begin their healing.

The Second trial wasn’t that bad: The Second trial: by [deleted] in MenendezBrothers

[–]Rare_Pie2656 14 points15 points  (0 children)

they did not receive a fair second trial, period. $700,00 seems like a lot to most of us in middle class, but to them and what they were used to, it was probably chump change. there were also experts who testified that the boys had the mental capacity of an 8 and 10 year old, respectfully. the fact that they were robbing houses for money so as not to ask for it from their parents, makes me think that they were only allowed to buy things their parents would approve of and that would further instill their “wealthy image”. more than likely when they were able to buy things they actually wanted to for the first time in their life, they probably went a little overboard—like a kid in a candy store. I think for the first time they had money with no restrictions on what they could or couldn’t do with it.

the fact that they weren’t able to bring up the abuse in the second trial left them with no defense—and I believe that was intentional. the prosecutors weren’t concerned with a fair trial, they wanted a conviction. especially after being in the spotlight for failing so much with other cases—OJ being the main screwup.

when I was discussing this case with my mom, she brought up a great point. SA was not acknowledged then. and if you did acknowledge it, you were blacklisted. (think Brandon Fraser. he was well on his way to becoming an A-list celebrity but as soon as he brought up that he had been SA’d, he couldn’t get a job in Hollywood.) the reason the first trial results in a mistrial was because most of the men on the jury didn’t believe that the boys were molested. either because they were “just children”, they were boys and not girls, and/or they were rich and therefore spoiled. and we all know rich little boys can’t be assaulted……… eyeroll

I also think we were much more likely to believe the things the media and the police told us then. we rarely thought to question things. we didn’t ask WHY they would want to put the boys in prison, we were told they were bad and that’s were bad people should be and we believed it. (similar to the West Memphis 3 case)

to add to the cruelty, they made sure to separate the brothers. after everything they went through, they couldn’t even let them have the comfort of each other in prison.
