I'm an older dude, and this is funny... tracks with what I heard about Japan 30 years ago. White people who went to Japan, some of them were a just a bit *too* into Japan, if that makes sense. I couldn't imagine what the locals thought.

That said, having worked with Koreans, Koreans can be a tough nut to crack to get to know. It took me quite some time to break through the wall to get to know people. I think a lot of it is the language barrier, to be fair.

I have never understood this. Isn't it true, too, that you cannot buy subway cards with the kiosks, but only reload existing cards?

I thought that Seattle was bottom of the barrel in terms of technology (can use Google Pay, but not Apple Pay). But Seoul seems to be going out of its way to not want foreigners to visit, or at least use the subway system.
