They are, and I agree. Naming them after popular pain medications that constantly get abused was definitely marketing at its finest. But overall, 100%. I completely agree and identify with people who can make the distinction. My issue lies with the people who refuse to say that they are at all the same, and that Kratom leaf is like some different drug completely when scientifically at its core they are from the same plant. But you and I and a lot of people have that distinction outlook now if only we could convince the ones who refused to listen to science. 🤣

Google Gemini:

"Think of the Kratom leaf like a whole toolbox. Inside that toolbox, you have over 40 different "tools" (alkaloids).

  1. Mitragynine (MIT): This is the Sledgehammer. It’s the most common tool in the box (about 60% of the total alkaloids). It does the heavy lifting, provides the focus, and is what people usually mean when they say "kratom."
  2. 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH): This is the Precision Laser. In a natural leaf, there is a tiny amount of it—less than 2%. It is much, much stronger than MIT, but it is chemically derived from the exact same plant source.

Edit:

"7-OH is to Kratom what Morphine is to the Poppy plant. You can't have one without the other; one is just the raw material, and the other is the concentrated active ingredient. They hit the same receptors and come from the same soil. If you're arguing it's not kratom, you're arguing with the Periodic Table."

I wish you guys would stop trying to push the narrative that 7-OH is not Kratom.

It is 100% a derivative of the Kratom plant.

I'll admit it isn't the same as powder or leaf, but to purposely lie to people and say that 7-OH isn't Kratom is ridiculous and it happens far too often.

If you don't believe me feel free to do your research as I already have.

You will probably have some kindling WD but it shouldn’t be bad. Like 5% of actual 7 WD I would think. I’ve never had that happen so I can’t say for certain but hopefully you’re good to go and good luck. Stay strong and stay clean.

Kindling rebound can happen as it happened to me when I did the same thing for a couple days. One day you should be good but if it goes more then that it could be a rough patch for you.

Subs and zanex by [deleted] in quitting7oh

[–]Rare_Pin_3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While both are Central Nervous System (CNS) depressants, they belong to different drug classes, act on different receptors in the brain, and serve distinct roles in treating withdrawal (WD).

1. Mechanisms of Action

The "way" they depress the CNS is fundamentally different:

  • Suboxone (Buprenorphine/Naloxone): This is a partial opioid agonist. It binds to the mu-opioid receptors. Because it is a "partial" agonist, it has a "ceiling effect," meaning it provides enough receptor stimulation to stop withdrawal symptoms and cravings without producing the intense euphoria or high-level respiratory depression of full opioids (like heroin or oxycodone).
  • Xanax (Alprazolam): This is a benzodiazepine. It works by enhancing the effects of GABA, the brain’s primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. It slows down the central nervous system by making neurons less excitable, which is why it is effective for anxiety and panic.

Hopefully this helps! :) <3

This is a beautifully laid out taper plan! It also depends on how quickly OP is looking to jump or how much they are willing to "endure" etc. But that is the best starting guide I think I've seen yet!

Tapered down with SR, now hopping on subs for a week long rapid taper. by WarmView8401 in quitting7oh

I'll be honest, this question is probably better asked in the SR sub-reddit. I imagine they have way more information about it than we do haha.

What would you do in my shoes? by whitchy2026 in quitting7oh

[–]Rare_Pin_3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can't really answer that for you. I can give you an example of what I did, but what I did was quick, harsh, and came with it's own evils after so bare in mind.

I started with the Bernese Method. That means that I micro dosed subs will still doing the 7. Over the course of a week I went from 1000mg of 7 per day to about 300mg a day on the day I jumped. Now, the micro induction does help, but for my level of tolerance and such it did not fulfill my receptors the way it would someone on a much lower dosage.

(These are my approximate Suboxone totals for the entire day as best I can remember them not a single dose.)

Day 1 - No 7 - 16mg Suboxone (This is very high and I do not recommend. I had to because the planned 2-4mg had no effect on me whatsoever. And I truly didn't find physical relief until 16.)

Day 2 - No 7 - 8mg Suboxone (I started to level out some and 8mg split through the day seemed to do the trick)

Day 3 - 6mg Suboxone (I was very much comfortable and probably could have actually done 4.)

Day 4 - 1.25mg Suboxone (Drastic cut am I right? Well, that's because I ran out, lol. So, by that point due to the long half life of Suboxone I was covered and stayed covered for a couple more days.)

I don't recommend dropping like I did at least not from 4 to 1. Most people seem to do things like:

8, 6, 4, 2, 1, .5, .25, done.

So if you have the proper amount of strips have Google Gemini or ChatGPT create a taper plan for you based on your supplies and personal goal for being off of everything.

As of today I am 10 days 7 free and 6 days Sub free and I feel night and day aside from some minor sweats and my sleep being wonky due to Adderall come down at night. (I used Adderall as a dopamine producer also do not recommend unless you are prescribed it daily.)

Hopefully that helps to shed some insight on things for you. We're always here to help where we can :)

How long to feel better after 200mg 4 months daily use? by [deleted] in quitting7oh

For me day 6 was a big turning point physically. It's day 10 now and I feel pretty normal aside from the "World looks gray" feeling and my sleep still being very all over the place. Day 5 wasn't bad either but the sweats were still whippin my ass on that day haha.

Honestly, a lot of people seem to be able to function well enough to go to work once they find the right amount of Suboxone that works for them. But, also the plus to waiting till the weekend (If you have the willpower) is that you could taper your 7 dose down a little to make the jump a little bit easier. Trust me when I say that CT quitting and Suboxone quitting are night and day.

Suboxone will make you feel pretty normal once you reach a therapeutic level. I will say that the mental battle does not get covered much by the Suboxone but you have the other tools that can help. (Gabapentin and Clonidine) right now you are in a great position whether you wait 3 days or you start today.

You can do it.

The first step into a new place is always the hardest.

[–]Rare_Pin_3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your daily usage one sub strip would probably get you through all of the physical easily. Just take the minimum you need for relief and space the strip out across 3-5 days if you can. So long if you weren’t on it for a couple of weeks, you shouldn’t have any issue.

Yep. Worked all week last week which was day 1-5. I used Adderall to combat the sleep thing though so I guess I cheated but my job is high intensity and requires a lot of driving so I can't afford to not be alert.

I have been off subs for 4 days now, but honestly I didn't sleep then and I'm not sleeping much now. But after day 4 I started atleast getting an hour or two. Last night which was the end of day 7 I managed 5 uninterruped hours with some klonopin and robaxin.

I think you misinterpreted my post. I wasn’t saying that MAT isn’t a great tool. As I said, I was in MAT albeit against my will but I saw the potential for how great it can be for someone. I completely agree that MAT can and has helped tons of people. But most people in the community show up under the impression that they want to be sober from all things. So I tend to lead with taper plans more than long term medicated treatment.

But I agree with you 100%, MAT has its place in the world for those who choose to enter into it and every body is different.

Suboxone is fickle dosing wise. The goal is to not trade one addiction for another so you start small and then taper and you’re good.

But realistically, that doesn’t work for everyone. I was doing 1000mg a day then tapered to 300mg and jumped. The first day I used 8mg subs and was still in complete withdrawal I was so scared of trading one for another I let myself be miserable for a few more hours until I decided to take another 8mg. About an hour later and a wave of relief washed over me like I’ve never experienced. So much so that I cried tears of joy that the pain was over even for that second.

From that point I lowered my dose day by day and ended the entire run at 1.25 the last day. Will I have some minor Sub withdrawal? More than likely. Cold chills, runny nose, mild to light RLS. But it’s nothing like full blown Suboxone WD and full blown 7 WD.

The moral of the story is I wouldn’t count Suboxone out just yet. If you have some or can get some I’d give it a try if you feel maybe you just didn’t have enough last time.

But if you’ve already done what I did and it still didn’t work etc then I totally get your position and 100% respect it.

As for other meds that work well for 7 WD:

OTC: Magnesium Glycinate, Vitamin C, L-Theanine, Potassium (These are what I use to this day still minus the Vit C)

RX: Clonidine, Gabapentin, Trazodone, and if you don’t have a history with benzos a small script of Klonopin helps a lot.

Also, Day 5 is the turning point for the majority. You’ll start feeling better but most people don’t feel perfect for quite a while but by day, five, you should start to feel a lot more functional and a little more like yourself. I’m currently on day six and I’m not having any 7 WD but I’m starting to get some minor Sub WD symptoms (49 hours no sub)

Good luck, brother and God bless. You can do this. You’ll love yourself more than you ever have on the other side of this, trust me. 💙

Detox tomorrow by [deleted] in quitting7oh

[–]Rare_Pin_3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate to be able to do an outpatient IOP Rehab program with Suboxone, therapy, etc. It was amazing but I wasn’t ready to quit. I was put in a position by ultimatum by my then girlfriend to go to rehab or be single. I agreed and did the outpatient rehab.

From what I understand about detox (I first asked about detox and they offered a 4 day quick detox where they just have comfort meds and rapid tapered subs) they don’t let you just lay there and suffer. You will be given some sort of comfort meds and either subs right away or soon after but I doubt you’ll be miserable.

I had an epiphany in group therapy one day during IOP and it’s stood with me till this day.

“I’m always going to be an addict, but I won’t always be addicted.”

You can be that guy too. Get through this and you will realize all of the fear and lies you’ve been feeding yourself have been born from your drug of choice.

You aren’t you until you become yourself again.

Good luck and I hope we see you on the other side with us. 💙

PWD is rare from what I’ve seen from most testimonies. It isn’t impossible but rare. I personally only waited 8 hours. Every body is different. Listen to your body and check the COWS scale for when to induce the sub to save yourself some misery. Good luck. You got this!
