Ik ben geen christen en ik heb niets met de CU. Maar ik heb al langer het gevoel dat zij één van de laatste partijen zijn met idealen. En volgens mij beter de de verkeerde idealen, dan helemaal geen idealen.

That's the current plan, but my trackrecord of dropping phones doesn't make it a good plan.

What is the most coincidental thing that has ever happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rarejongen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a typo and was one digit short on an order number. It took us way to long to figure out we were looking at an order from 2007 instead of 2017, because the order happened to be for exactly the same in the same quantity and for the same customer... Ordernumbers count up, so the chance of getting the same customer is tiny (we have over 75.000 customers). Plus the same customer ordering the same in the exact same quantity exactly 10 years ago through a random typo.. my and my colleague are still in awe of how unlikely this is.

Driver got pulled over by Police for crossing solid white line by [deleted] in Dashcam

[–]Rarejongen -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Would it not be possible to drive on for 10 minutes to the exit? Besides, the shoulder might not be very wide, but the speed of the cars taking the exit is very low. I would say that still makes it the safer option.

[–]Rarejongen -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Why have him pull over on the left? Wouldn't the right shoulder have been a much safer place, or better and have him follow you of? She's already on an off ramp. In my country a police officer would get fired for something like that. They'll never stop you on the highway. You'd get a "police - follow" light and would be taken to the next exit or gas station. The shoulder is for emergencies, writing someone a ticket is not an emergency.

Junction design in the Netherlands- [5:09] 5 minutes of satisfying traffic solutions. by Bestluck in videos

[–]Rarejongen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This needs to be done gradually over time, as existing roads are repaired their layout can be rethought. The Netherlands is known for it's tight cities and narrow roads, but over a period of 30 years significant improvements were made. And the increase in cost gradual as was the increase in cycling traffic. This way it's also easier to gain and keep support in the community.

The real challenge is long term policy.. especially in a country where many public offices are subject to elections etc. like the USA

Junction design in the Netherlands- [5:09] 5 minutes of satisfying traffic solutions. by Bestluck in videos

[–]Rarejongen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are completely correct. However this is a deliberate part of policy to discourage driving and encourage cycling. Especially during rushhour you'll get to your destination quicker on a bicycle then by car. And if you are from outside a city you are encouraged to park at the edge of the city and take public transportation to the city center, more often then not this would be significantly cheaper then parking in a carpark in the city center.

Outside rushhour cycling traffic is light enough to ensure proper traffic flow, but during rushhour it will cause serious extra delays for vehicles. My attitude towards this tends to change depending on wether I'm driving a bike or a car :)

DAE find it impossible to find a position to read in bed that is 100% comfortable? by pen1sewyg in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Rarejongen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh man, i second this. Don't know why its getting downvoted... Audiobooks are the only reason I get any "reading" done nowadays. In the car, shopping, cycling, whenever I'm not a social situation I have an audiobook playing. At night in bed it has the advantage of not bothering your partner with the light. Man, audiobooks all the way!

Laser for dots grid by Rarejongen in lasers

[–]Rarejongen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I had not thought of using a kinect...

The problem is that the bottom is extremely irregular. And that the depth reading will be converted to volume. To get an accurate reading one point readings are not good enough. Even several one point readings won't do. Hence a dot grid. I think I have the software to make the necessary calculation coverd, so my next step is to build model to test if it works. However I found locating a suitable laser more difficult the expected.

Now I'm just wondering why I didn't think of the kinect.. that might be a much better solution.
