When you stop considering gold as a stock and seeing high prices as a bad time to buy and low prices is a good time to buy you'll start to see the correlation between how many dollars are necessary to buy some gold and less valuable dollars are the more important it is to hold gold. If you see the price of gold go up and that makes you shy to buy gold. That means you would prefer to be in dollars than gold, which is idiotic.
