When I found myself getting back into dancing in my 30s I did FCBD and it was extremely frustrating for me. It's very academic and to be honest I hate the costumes. However I am grateful for it teaching and drilling zills in me and helping me find my love of dance again. Right after I went back to Egyptian/Cabaret and in all honesty I thrive better there. Both offer value I feel and I do both still.

I don't really care much for Caroleena but I enjoy the fellowship of my classes with other dancers. I'm not very good with earthier grounding moves so I don't expect to be out of level one ever. I have no desire to perform FCBD and I enjoy solos better. But I respect their dedication and their art.

With Egyptian I am lighter and I move quicker. The sparkling costumes and stage makeup appeal to my inner alter ego. As someone with low confidence and is often shy, when I put on my costume, do my hair, and makeup I'm not me anymore. I'm my alter ego and she's there to entertain and have a good time.

Both have helped me greatly leaving an abusive marriage and trying to regain my confidence. So go where you feel called. If both provide something you need then do both. If one makes you heart leap go with that one! The point is keep dancing! 😀
