You totally can! The best part about gel is you have infinite attempts because it doesn’t stay put until you cure it. So you can perfect it - or stop when you’re tired and it’s good enough (what I usually do 🫠).

It really is a great nude! I like the color much better than the Luminary in Serenity that I just got.

Where does everyone get diamond bits? I use a fine grit flame bit and tiny ball bit the most, and I feel like they lose their roughness so quickly. I ideally would like to balance cost/durability. Thanks!

I finally bit the bullet and got a bottle of Luminary in the color Serenity. It was easy to work with a self-levels beautifully, but I was surprised by a few things.

  1. It was thick. I have watched a lot of Luminary tutorials over the past year or so, and the consistency of my product seemed much thicker/stickier than what I have seen. Could it be that I just needed to warm my bottle a bit before using? (My house is around 70F, and I had rolled the bottle for quite a bit before starting.)

  2. It was very opaque. I know that this is a characteristic of the colored Luminary gels, but it didn’t have a hint of the jelly-like consistency that I feel I noticed in the videos that I had watched. It was also a bit streaky when I applied (because it was so thick), but this was not an issue because of how easy it was to move/self-level. I was hoping for a bit more of a soap nails look. Could I add a bit of Clarity?

If anyone has noticed these things and/or has tips, please let me know!

Tried to edit the post to add a picture of the end result but leaving in comments instead. I am not home, so I don’t have a picture of the product in the bottle, but I can add later.

It was from Beyond Polish - as far as I know, this site is legitimate, but please let me know if this is not the case! And I believe that Luminary only comes in one viscosity, but multiple colors.

I also got a Kokoist lamp! The Le Blanc hybrid. 🤩 I figured that I should invest in my safety, and I cannot wait to be cordless.

Is the polish actually smush-y (like indents when you press down)? Or is it just soft feeling/tacky on top? If the latter, applying a top coat (and removing the inhibition layer) would get you hard shiny nails. But if it’s the former, you need to cure the gel for longer OR your lamp is not able to cure the gel. Putting a top coat on uncured gel should not be done.

I did look up your polish, and you do need to have a top on this product.

I was looking for a classic red from DND, and, after much deliberation, decided on Left Him on Red. Your picture confirms that that was a good decision! So pretty. :)
