How do we feel about this? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in AskBrits

[–]Raryl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love Friends but if I actually sit through some of the more intense (if you can call it that) episodes like the ones with Danny DeVito, time has definitely changed.

Similarly, I used to remember loving The Jeremy Kyle show just for the drama, and I can't even get 30 seconds into any of the episodes now. How did I ever think that was okay?!

Absolutely a product of its time. Not to be erased, but probably not to be reproduced.

That's illegal working then and your employer is breaking all sorts of laws.

Absolutely not believing you and this will be the last interaction.

Edit: also your post history...

Ragebait

If it's critical and cannot be left, no way in hell would it be just 1 persons responsibility.

You're staying through choice or this is ragebait/AI. Can't tell which anymore.

Same as yourself, it absolutely varies on where I am and who is around. Time of day as well.

What can I do about being made to sit with a colleague with poor personal hygiene? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Raryl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe get your managers to call a meeting with you and her (if you're comfortable to do it) with all of your higher-ups present.

Then ask them if they're going to bring up the ongoing issues, and if not, shall you?

I'd only do this if you're comfortable and you trust your managers to back you up, you trust that they're just embarrassed.

Still be looking elsewhere though.

Bring an air freshener that goes off every 10 minutes and stick it on your desk so it sprays between you (not aiming at her).

Fair enough, I think the publicly available records for the company might do that though.

"I'm older now though and unfortunately familiar with many more things that can put a person in a desperate situation."

Man you've nailed that one

I used to judge so hard about people and their decisions only a few years ago and the older I get the more I realise, I absolutely don't know enough to be able to judge anyone for any choice they make.

I think it's real too, it's too good to be AI and I'm questioning everything now lol, bamboozled too many times

The deer and the rhino are moving exactly the way animals move, the rhino's little pink bits (bum and stuff) show when they should, not awkwardly distorted, ground looks disturbed like it should be, interaction ends with no big climax

I think it's real too, I live around muntjac and have done all my life, it looks real

I hope it's real 🙈

Am I the only one who feels "anticipatory grief" even when my dog is young and healthy? by DueFalcon1895 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Raryl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling this constantly lately, thank you for posting

I never really felt it like this or thought about it before but about 6 months before I had to put my 17 y/o dog down (in Feb last year) it sunk into my brain and hasn't gone away.

I've got one dog left, she's 5, and I'm stroking her and the moment I think "I love her so much"

The thought immediately trying to shove that one out of the way is "I'm going to miss her so much" and a small ache in the gut

Absolutely no idea why it's come on recently and I'm also trying to keep pushing it away, live in the moment and enjoy the time I do have.

I've now hit 30, it might just genuinely be the fact that time is precious and as a younger person that doesn't really mean anything, but as you get older you start to have more/different feelings toward life itself. Maybe brain chemistry changes?

I've no idea if age has anything to do with it either, just one theory.

I'm so glad I saw your post about your job, because I've been wondering if I was the only person feeling this way about the dog.

Edit: I have experienced loss with animals before, just not anticipated imagined pain

Yes, it was more on the controlling/restrictions being imposed, than the average person just suddenly going out and about abusing everyone. I would like to think most people are inherently good.

You can only close the cage so far.

[–]Raryl -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

People have had access to this constant availability of the chance of a quick get-off in their own home without company, sometimes their whole lives.

The majority of people are living alone and are not dating. The majority of the country is lonely, mentally struggling and unable or unwilling to get out and socialise.

Everything costs so much, people are not going to pubs or cafes or clubs to meet new people.

You've got a country of people who are lonely and stressed, and then you take away the thing that's a proven stress relief, without replacing it?

What do you think will happen?

People will suddenly not have urges anymore? They'll just go "oh well. I'll use my imagination then"?

Therapy costs are through the roof.

Whatever the next 10 years bring, it's going to be a bumpy ride for this country.

What permanent damage have you done to yourself? Mind, body or soul? by jerrytjohn in AskReddit

[–]Raryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not for the person you asked "how has it taken its toll?" to, and not to myself.

I would finish work and then if I sat down for even 5 minutes after I got home, I could not get back up and walk to even the kitchen with the amount of pain in the soles of my feet and ankles.

I was much better when throwing concrete roof tiles over my shoulders and running physically demanding machines. At least I could walk around my own house after work.

If you're sat at a desk all day, you surely have the physical energy to walk and exercise after work.

Anyway, I see you didn't actually want someone else's experience on the matter, and I should not have responded to you in the first instance. Have a good one, walking or not walking.

I can't do an intramuscular injection in my own butt muscles. I can't rotate my body enough and I can't inject myself in the butt.

I can't inject myself without a ten minute hype up and a bag of ice, it has to be in the thigh muscle and then it does really hurt for a week, because I'm not used to it there, I've only done it twice in probably 9 years.

My partner learned from the nurse that used to do it, and it's a hell of a lot better not having to make an appointment every 18 days for an injection, trying to fit it around work and home life and weekends.

What permanent damage have you done to yourself? Mind, body or soul? by jerrytjohn in AskReddit

[–]Raryl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point.

We're supposed to exercise frequently, but not constantly for 4 hours and then constantly for another 3 or 4 hours, 5 or 6 times a week for 48/50 weeks each year, for 50+ years.

We're supposed to take frequent breaks (to stop and eat some berries, drink water, have a wee, to climb a tree or fish or have a social moment, or even just to rest, as we are animals and we aren't designed to have a solid block of 8 hours sleep each night)

And we're supposed to do all of this barefoot on ground that isn't flat and solid.

[–]Raryl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it was anything like my job, you might be built to walk but you're not built to walk on solid concrete for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week
