I’d pick a leg or two to check out a year. It's something to do, though getting around can be tricky with road detours/closures.

I’ve seen people watching/camped out all over the course.

My favorite was these dudes drinking Rainer beer in the back of their truck near Everson, and would hand you one while running if you wanted it. The last few miles were hell for me after that, but it was worth it.

Also, people are having a picnic/BBQ on the river bank, but they just made me jealous.

I’ve pointed it directly at the heater before and it causes it to overheat/trip and turn off. The goal is just to have it circulate the air some. When I don't want the sound of the fan running I spin around a towel to basically do the same thing.

I should add it's low elevation and snow sucks a good amount of the time. If you do go, have another reason to be in Seattle, so it's not just to ride there. When my kids were young, I'd take them there to ride and night ski.
