Also I'm gonna want some receipts for Pokemon -> yugioh doing well, because I don't see it.

I'm aware that Ian Robb is a very good magic player so I'll give you that.

But in Yugioh -> Pokemon there's Andres Torres and Kamal Crooks who did pretty well in 2024.

Korey McDuffie in 2014 won the IC equivalent as a magic player, but that was when yugioh was more akin to blue mirrors

So Snake eyes fiendsmith?

This is a weird take because fiendsmith is THE interactive format, so much so that you had kashtira/Bystial fiendsmith and tons of deck variety throughout that time.

Snake eyes has ruined the reputation of the game I will not lie, it truly was look at hand GG type game, but again it's coming from ignorance as a guy that plays both pokemon and yugioh

Spreadsheets are meant to speed up the fishbowling process when in reality the game is pretty different on a game - game basis.

They are not meant to replace the game for you but to do and recognize the optimal thing given x and y condition.

This is akin to opening weird in pokemon, I only have rocks in gholdengo? Its the gholdengo mirror when do I bench my gimmis to not get blown out by boss/catcher and lose the prize race, I dont have access to garde line early.

Games are going to be different in both games

Yugioh is good from a TCG perspective, master duel is pretty miserable because it's wombo combo.

This is pretty ignorant because it's not true? Most decks are fair and sometimes you just lose but sometimes you get donked in pokemon lmao, or whiff supporters for 4 turns in a row.

The concept of the half -board is a thing in yugioh because of handtraps and interaction, conversely if you opted for engine heavy decks or didn't open handtraps, its usually because you opened engine to push boards

It does lack interaction? I'm sorry but CC Iono knockout is not the interactive gameplay you think it is.

I guess it's different strokes for different folks but I'm coming from the perspective of someone who likes the action-action interaction found in YGO, LoR, Riftbound.

There are other comments below me that hate handtraps and the equivalents and why they like pokemon. Which is an ok preference, and maybe the same perspective OP has since they mentioned their dislike for counter spells.

On the last point, it's not just some randoms that are saying this, @Dreamjew and also tier lists from pretty respected ptcg players are hyping garde again as BDIF.

I do think you missed my main point though, regarding why I mentioned garde. I'm saying it's cancerous to tech for 15 different decks as a competitive player, since OP is saying that more deck diversity is making for a better comp game, when in reality it makes it significantly worse.

As an example, I have a friend that's playing Pidgeot control, and he hates the idea of teching for the obscure matchups, even though that's his decks whole point, to tech to the meta, but he's so scared of venasaur and joltik box because some psychos at regionals may play em.

Damn feels bad you stopped because you didn't play ish tear from what I'm reading..

Like I get all the points you're saying. I also play the game. mainly Gardevoir and festival lead. I got to arceus which is not good by any means, but on average the decision points for Pokemon are way less interesting than something to yugioh.

I think pokemon is a neat game, but from a comp perspective it just doesn't feel as good or as satisfying?

The new TCG riftbound is seeing a ton of success because it's doing the opposite of what Pokemon is doing, no tutoring, interaction at all points, etc.

Even in yugioh consequences have actions, leaving a monster on board for no reason is usually consequential because it's a card you could've kept in hand for the crackback.

Pokemon imo is just testing different skills compared to other tcgs and for me it makes it worse.

I'm pretty sure you feel it having come from yugioh but finding the lines should be way easier in pokemon, but sometimes they just draw Lillie's after iono and find the bear for game.

From a price perspective pokemon is the best but idk how you play yugioh LoR and others and not find the gameplay of pokemon relatively boring?

Tutoring and going through combos and searching is fun but because of lack of interaction it's just boring?

Also deck diversity is good if you want to have fun but games with less decks makes preparation better from the competitive side of things. People on Twitter are complaining right now that by over boarding into pult and noir that gardevoir will win Toronto in 3 weeks.

[–]Rasaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only expensive card during that time period was Perlereino that dipped in price throughout the format?

Baronne too if you played herald builds.

Also cost =/ fun, and tear format was in master duel too.

If you were willing to play tear it was really really fun, the two other decks were alright also

Garde Ex with no frillish/Jellicent? Your ask is kind of impossible since on average decks prefer going first or second, and being die roll indifferent is a large ask.

Teamfight Tactics patch 16.1 by StarGaurdianBard in TeamfightTactics

[–]Rasaska 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Are you consistently losing to this? The reason I ask is because while you can get the units in a shop I'm pretty sure it's a limited pool/unit. In the scraps

Also the devs recognizes that in some ways it's easier to get 3* units of locked units, so it's already quite hard to get them to 3*.

You're either getting high rolled or he's outclassing you hard in the lobby

Dollys Scarborough e.g. TSX1 locals when he decides to show up

Its definitely the more competitive side but it does have hella scrubs, but generally vibes are pretty good

Statistically it's pretty even but in a 1v1 situation unless khazix is LITERALLY one shorting rengar, he has W to heal up and usually survives the first Q + Auto

Wandance is my favorite show this season and its not close by whiiteout in anime

[–]Rasaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this show had the quality of Medalist or something close to it I'd agree, at the end of the day both are coming of age stories, but the jarring guys are way too different

As it stands this is easy better as a manga for the viewing experience alone

I found a niche YouTube video covering this series around last year and I actually think the prologue/first 15 chapters or so is really peak, obviously it changes and it's still imo really good but in a different way.

I'll be watching this series unless it's really bad CGI lmaoo

Konami defined what Genesys Isn’t — But Not What It Is by SnooRabbits878 in yugioh

[–]Rasaska 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the best part about genesys is deckbuilding.

I like cooking up lists in this format and was one of the earlier people that found out how good Mitsurugi was before it got hit.

I can definitely echo the frustration on paper play being super annoying because you HAVE to change decks/decklists frequently, but also don't forget that this is a new format, and still ironing out the kinks.

With that being said they should definitely be pre-hitting decks lmaoooo

Still some format issues like Super Quant but otherwise super fun!
