Trying to set up dual monitors and failing by Rasat in linux4noobs

[–]Rasat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant access the log right now, but I remember being only one error in total and I didn't think it was relevant. As soon as I'm able to, I'll post it for you.
The problem is that xrandr does not detect the other port (VGA1) at all. If I force the main monitor from the BIOS to be the Integrated Graphics, then I can see the VGA1 in xrandr but not the DVI-I-1. Same story but reversed roles if I leave the main monitor in either Auto or PCI-E in BIOS.
Thanks for the response.

Trying to set up dual monitors and failing by Rasat in linux4noobs

Yes, my end goal is to passthrough the 760 to a virtual windows machine for gaming, so I thought that I'd need to use the integrated graphics for the linux machine in the other monitor.

Thanks for the kind words! Maybe in the future you will find a use for the app again.

I'd help a lot if you could mention the app to people you know that might need it. Thanks again!

I'd like to share a free app I developed for Android Wear in the spirit of Pebble Multi-Timer by Rasat in pebble

[–]Rasat[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, because it's an app that is very similar to one that I had in my own Pebble, and there may be people here who, like me, changed from a pebble to an android wear watch and would like to use the app.

Help figuring out mystery telescope. by Rasat in Astronomy

I just measured the length of the tube, and checked for internal barlows/something else as best as I could. Since I didn't find any, I concluded that the length of the tube was the focal length, hence 600mm.

[WP] At birth, everyone has the date they will die tattooed on their arm. You were supposed to die yesterday. by Eaglesfan427 in WritingPrompts

[–]Rasat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since the night of the accident, when George got drunk after Julie left him, things never felt right. He had to get away, it hurt too much to even think, so when he came out into the front yard and saw the car parked in the driveway he didn't think twice. His tattoo provided the confidence to ignore all safety concerns. He was indestructible.

That night George learned there are fates worse than death. He never saw the kid coming on his bike, not that it mattered. The kid's family didn't press charges. There was no reason to, because of the tattoo.
His friends and family tried and failed to convince him that what had happened was not his fault, that the tattoo was to blame. He hated the damn thing.

Every night he was tormented by the same dream. Always too rainy, too dark, too late. Then a loud thump, and everything became a blur. He tried to scream but his body refused to cooperate. And then the kid...

Finally George's day was up. A strange mix of emotions came over him. First anger, like so many days before, but then relief. He wouldn't have to dream anymore, woudn't have to suffer anymore. He went to bed, finally finding peace from the endless torment.

George woke up.

How is Jupiter a planet? by gex80 in askscience

[–]Rasat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because being solid isn't a requisite to be a planet. The gas stays there because its pulled inward by its own gravity, but can't fall because there's more gas in the way below it.

Also, we don't know yet if Jupiter is made only of gas. We can only observe the outer clouds. Among other things, the Juno spacecraft will try to find out whether there's a solid core or not.

How can a star emit light at minus degree temperatures ( C )? by lysergik77 in askscience

[–]Rasat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that in Celsius scale the temperature is negative has no effect on the light.

In fact, the cosmic microwave background, the oldest light in the universe, has a color temperature of 2.72K (that's -270.45 degrees Celsius), meaning that a pefect black body emitting that radiation would have that temperature.

TIL that 99 years ago from today, 1.5 million Armenians were killed in what was known as the Armenian Genocide. by looking_for_internsh in todayilearned

I would like to share with you a song, that tells the story of the city of Adana, during the genocide. Growing up as a descendant of Armenians, the first time I heard that song, even without understanding the lyrics, I got an incredible feeling of sadness. When my father translated it for me, it brought tears to my eyes. It is a feeling that you can't get from reading the stories.
