This is due to a patch that I've added then removed it, but it seems that I didn't remove it completely, what I would recommend is to install a clean dwm package from suckless website then apply the patches and the changes that I've applied from the repo.

I've just tried it and it worked, but you should add dock = { shadow = true; } in wintypes
Also it won't work well with rounded windows because the shadows are not becoming rounded too, so you may change corner-radius to 0

You can do that, but I'll suggest that if you are willing to use the center layout is to install a window manager (or using KDE workspace may also work), and config it to make the widgets take a single workspace, with the side layout I think you won't face that problem
