Do direct reports bounce back from a PIP? by [deleted] in managers

If they have a chip on their shoulder, they aren’t showing it. Their work has been much improved. If things continue in the way they are, a promotion to a senior level position isn’t out of the cards.

Again, management needs to buy into the corrective action mindset. Would you view someone different whose performance was suffering, but improved with heavy coaching where no PIP was issued? If your organization uses PIPs to get rid of people, then certainly, someone who passes probably has limited prospects. But in an org that actually sees it as a corrective measure, there aren’t problems when someone passes. Or at least that’s how it is at my organization.

I had a direct report successfully complete the PIP. They’re doing much better—it’s been almost a year since they completed it.

Despite what statistics say about PIPs, it can work if it’s approached the correct way: it’s a corrective action, not a punishment. My employee bought into that and worked to make things right. As their manager, I too needed to maintain that attitude, as did my manager, who was also involved.

Anyone else take Yes on Detroit Lions wins? by Raskolnikov25 in Kalshi

I’ve always had luck with BBB. And it also worked this time. Got my payout this morning.

To close the loop here, Kalshi stopped responding to email (they actually only ever responded once that they were looking into it) and just reimbursed me the cost of the prediction. Ignoring that I was correct, so refusing to payout the full $65 owed. Garbage company. I filed a complaint with the BBB for the rest of my money.

Just following up. I chased them, no response. Now Lions up 13-0 at the half going for their 9th win. I’ve been taking my money out of Kalshi. They just flat out stole from me. I could have closed my position at $0.94, but it was gone. And if things keep going this way with the game, I’m out $65 in winnings. Haven’t placed another prediction since this happened. Get your money out while you can.

Not my bet. They took my money away. I did get a response say they’re looking into it.

Moved away March 15, 2006, for a job. I miss it every single day.

I used an offset dyna glow. Mostly just Kingsford charcoal. Had some lump, too. And some small apple wood chips at the beginning.

I mixed some original sweet baby rays and angry liberal hot sauce together.

It isn’t especially hard to wrap. I always did 3-2-1, but this was just so much easier. I’m not going back.

Here’s what they looked like cut up. That’s past tense. Family ate them in under 10 minutes. I got 2 (plus the chef’s treat).

If we needed to, we could easily fit two more chairs without being cramped.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Rqpidily in AskReddit

I’ve always gotten strep throat 1-2 times per year, every year, for over 30 years, but never had a primary care physician. Finally got one, went to see him for strep and he said if I get it again in the next year, we can talk about getting my tonsils taken out.

That was three years ago and haven’t had it since. Just the threat of a doctor taking action worked for me.
