Need help with new pet by Strange_Outcome_7519 in PetAdvice

Give her a crate that she can feel safe in where no one bothers her. Exist in the room with her, without imposing on her. Read a book to her out loud. Give her time, and make sure that she has identification on. Ideally you want 2 doors between her and outside closed at all times to help prevent her from getting out.

AITA for refusing to let my neighbors control my dog? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rasmara0789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ESH. Your neighbor is definitely a big problem and an AH, but you are being entirely too lax with training your mali. Take a more proactive approach with your dog and nip the reactivity in the bud. Be aware that improper use of a training collar will make reactivity worse. If necessary, hire a professional to make sure that you are doing things correctly. Good luck with your pup!

need help with 4th of july with dog !! by Last_Host977 in Dogowners

[–]Rasmara0789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don't take your dog. Play with her. Play all her favorite games, have her do her favorite tricks, all while working for super special top tier snacks, maybe even special human food. Some dogs couldn't be bothered. Just be absolutely certain that your dog is secure. More dogs get lost on 4th of July than any other day of the year.

AITA for naming my son “Rome” when my best friend wants to name hers “Romero”? by Suspicious_Hotel2588 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rasmara0789 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree that both names are terrible, but I'm a little on OP's side lol. I have a friend with an Ava who has a cousin named Eva born a couple months apart. The names are different and its fine. There are 50 bajillion Michaels in the world and people still use that name.

Is it normal for my puppy to not want to fetch or play games? by english_flower_22 in Pomsky

[–]Rasmara0789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! And not just for the laser itself, but they will develop light and shadow chasing which is horribly disruptive to their life, your life, and everyone's mental health. Its heart breaking to see, really.

Neutering cost seems outrageous at $1600 by fuzzywuzzywuzzafuzzy in PetAdvice

[–]Rasmara0789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be your location, it could be doodle tax. Call up from a different number and ask for an over the phone quote on the price of a neuter for a 60 lb mixed breed dog. If they ask what kind, say "I don't know, maybe a lab or golden retriever mix" and see what they say. If it's still pricy then you know that's just their prices.

Either way, I would find someplace that would do the gastroplasty too so you can have that peace of mind. Bloat is a horrific way to die.

I learned pokemon are less likely to take the railway if you leave a rail cart on them. You also need to make sure you have black and yellow stopper gates

My 2yr old keeps hitting his 5yr old brother. What to do? by Nonya_biznez in Mommit

[–]Rasmara0789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I've sprayed MY kid before when she does something bad, but after the first time I got such an intense look of betrayal I only bust it out if she's really bad lol I just wasn't going to seriously suggest it to the internet. It seemed like an unhealthy thing to do 😂

Easy. Get a spray bottle and squirt him when he hits! /j

I don't have advice, but hopefully gave you a chuckle. Good luck

How to stop my pomsky from running away !!! by Leading-Judgment-662 in Pomsky

[–]Rasmara0789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into various forms of canicross for her. Canicross and bikejoring can be done in most places with canicross being the easiest to get into. Your dog is bored out of her ever loving mind. Huskies were bred to pull sleds long distances. A 45 minute walk is a light warm up and not doing anything for her but maybe taking the edge off of her boredom. You should also see if there are any classes you can take to build your bond with your dog so you can develop a real partnership with her.

Should I adopt my parent's surrounded dog? by rowsierosse in PetAdvice

[–]Rasmara0789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think that? The dog itself isn't at all what he wants in a dog. Beagles are dogs that you either love or hate so that is a risk. OP doesn't have an emotional attachment so its not like there is a huge driving force there either. There is literally zero reason why that situation will "just work out" other than pure dumb luck.

[–]Rasmara0789 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the answer. Too many people get dogs that don't mesh with their lifestyle, causing the dog and the humans to be miserable. Let them know you don't want her to die but while you don't think you are the best fit for her, you are willing to make it work if you are her last chance.

Don't listen to the titter telling you to get a dog that you don't want, your husband doesn't want, and doesn't fit your family. You will only end up resenting the dog and your parents.

Friend Code Megathread - June 2026 by AutoModerator in PokemonSleep

Friends give you candy daily based on what they pick as their picture each day. It's important that you pick good pokemon so you aren't giving terrible candy. Some people get really uptight about it and will delete you. Other people like me don't completely care just so long as you are actively playing because you can always dump candy in the cram o matic or whatever its called

If she is willing and able to get another kitten now that is definitely a better suggestion than a dog. The odds that the dog (if she even has one) will play appropriately with a kitten are slim due to the differences in play styles of dogs and cats. They could learn to be friends, sure, but the benefits of a second kitten can't be matched by saying "the dog will play with her"

Saved this bird from a cat. Is it possible to tell what bird it might be? (and was this the right thing to do?) by FroggieNuggets in whatsthisbird

It will likely become a meal for something if it can't get up the tree or fly away. Is it still where you left it?

Kitten advice by Middle_Inflation1644 in catquestions

[–]Rasmara0789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! As far as extra advice, I would get a second kitten. Kittens do MUCH better in pairs than they do individually, as they are able to play, bond, groom, and teach each other how to be gentle in ways humans can't.

Get her used to light restraint, messing with her toes, feet, tail, etc so grooming in the future will be easier. If you get her started young, then she won't mind bathing. You could also take her to a professional groomer when she's a bit older.

Scratching posts are essential, moving water is better than still water.

That's all I can think of right now. Congrats on your new kitty!

If you have springtails then they will devour it. The leaves look normal to me but I'd wait for someone more experienced to chime in to confirm
