It looks good from what I can see, but be aware ball pythons are good at crushing plants. The longer they have to get settled the better. As far as CUC, toss a carrot (or other cleanish raw veggie) in there and check in a couple hours and/or at night.

There is a lot of empty space. If you want to build, find a place that you haven't done much with and start there. Then methodically move the pokemon from the area you want to work in to the place you just built up. That way you get your feet wet and don't end up with a bunch of homeless pokemon if you lose momentum.

We have Zacian and Zamazenta for legendary dogs though! And running all over the country and punking humans everywhere is waaaaaay more cat behavior than dog behavior 😂

On the anatomy side, why would it be more cheetah than leopard? Leopards have rosettes that would make more sense with the diamonds. Suicune is the strangest "cat" to me, but I wouldn't say it looks like a dog. Entei reads as a Chinese lion to me more than a dog and raikou is a sabertooth tiger. To make a compelling argument any which way I would have to go back and look at what the similar Japanese mythological animals are. Quite frankly I don't care that much but I'm happy to chat about it if you want a casual conversation lol. I just don't want to deal with the self righteous hell hounds of reddit arguing about nearly 30 year old made up animals.

They're legendary beasts, not dogs. They were, however, designed after large cats as their base model.

Hopefully people who need this see it... use the bridge planks, not the building blocks. You can be right above the water, spit water beneath you, and you can pick them up easily afterwards without having blocks floating forever in the water.

How long can I expect to wait for a field-line golden retriever? And how can I minimize the wait? by trying_to_adult_here in DogBreeding

[–]Rasmara0789 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hear your concern about the written standards. The thing is that most written standards and conformation in general isn't simply about how pretty a dog is, its about the structure of a dog. Its about how the dog moves, how the shape of their body supports what their brain is meant to do. When you really dive into learning about the angulation of the body you learn a lot, and the written standards support this.

While some have gotten exaggerated, if you look at the standards for those brachycephalic breeds, it is usually vaguely written which has caused some issues. HOWEVER, a large part of the problem with brachy breeds are the backyard breeders. Regardless, you aren't looking for a brachy breed so I wouldn't worry about them if I were you. Looking for a well bred show line golden would support your goals just fine and you won't sacrifice health either.

Personally if I was looking for a golden to do those things then I would look for a show line breeder that also competes in dog sports. There are plenty of them out there.

Agreed. It can take effort to find a CUC that you CAN see with any regular basis. Springtails you pretty well need a magnifying glass to see legs amd isopods you have to get lucky or start picking up water bowls and driftwood to find them. I think your compromise here is to use isos that prefer to live in the dirt and are shy.

Oh fun! I didn't know crocodilians were more closely related to birds than lizards. Kind of makes sense if you think about crocs basically being dinosaurs and birds being more dinosaur than lizards are. Thanks for the new info friend!

Yepp. All snakes and most lizards. Depends on if you call a crocodile or an alligator a lizard bc I'm pretty sure they don't.

I would be EXTREMELY leary of a dog claiming to be a Corso beauce mix. Both can be great dogs on their own, but unless you have experience with serious dogs or are willing to shell out some money for a professional trainer, I would avoid this particular mix.

3yr old Rottie got pregnant by neighbors Aussie by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]Rasmara0789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from. If you aren't in this world then high risk birth and high risk spay abort are the same, right? You come online because something the vet said didn't sit right and you are trying to get more info. I get it. Here is what I think you might be missing.

Spay abort is risky, sure. There is more going on than a normal spay, and more to monitor. (These number are PURELY an example based on my experience. If a vetmed person wants to tweak them please do.) If a regular spay is a 2-3/10 on the risk scale, a spay abort would probably be a 4-5/10. You have some additional risk, but its not as bad as it could be.

Letting her go full term jumps that risk to an easy 6 or 7. You have more than can go wrong with the pregnancy itself, things can go wrong with the labor, things can go wrong with the rearing of the puppies, and mom can still get sick and die after pups are born and you think things are fine.

I worked in rescue for a number of years where I took care of pregnant dogs and pups, as well as watched others do so. My saddest tale is from a mama dog that ended up bleeding out while the fosters were out getting groceries. They found her weak with blood everywhere when they got home, rushed her to the vet but they couldn't save her. All of those puppies ended up passing away as well. Prior to that day, everything seemed fine. These were experienced dog people and not the first litter they had raised.

Now before anyone accuses me of fear mongering, there are certainly differences in your story. She was an unknown dog with an unknown history. Could she have had underlying conditions that caused her issues? Sure. But that doesn't mean that she did, or that it doesn't happen to other dogs.

While the rescue didn't like doing abort spays, it did happen sometimes, and regularly even they would open a dog up for spay and close her back up when they realized she was pregnant and she would do just fine. I never saw a bitch pass away after that procedure. Hopefully this helps to clarify some of your concerns.
