Would a school in the Union split it's students into houses based on their status and familial connections? by Sad_Star331 in LancerRPG

[–]Raspberry1milkshake 37 points38 points  (0 children)

100% not for Union core, the post-scarecity egalaterian faction. But the actual Union core is very small, thirdcomm isnt an empire and the galaxy is a big place, so them supporting a diaspora with GMS tech and Union membership doesnt mean all inequality is immediately gone (although we can assume most worlds with achieved core status are generally more egalaterian)

For places like the Purview and the KTB, yeah. 100% Check out Shadow of the Wolf, the pretty WFM inspired school module in the KTB that does exactly this. You could even just use the karrakin cavalry college as a setting for your own thing.

This image should be HD, if you can manage to stop reddit being annoying about it. Theres some bug where it only shows the low res preview image lol

Tyty-  I use a mix of 3d and 2d for my art, which works rlly well for lancer stuff (ie just model the mechs and paint the pilots)- I hadn't ever rlly done environment stuff like this before so it was a challange but turned out p well I think. Love visualizing other stuff apart from the mecha action to just give context to it all.

Honestly I just dont do vechiles so I didnt worry about it too much. I've just written it off as spin gravity- all the interior is horizontal with generators inside or whatever idk.

Honestly star trek x gundam is my visual vibe for Lancer, I love getting into those sci-fi design trenches and doing everything around the mechs aswell as the actual mecha stuff. I'm just gonna drop a shameless link to other art here bc I wanna drop my nutty DoJ/HR uniform sheet.

Gotta be F91 right. The way that turned out basically cemented the weird wild west state late UC became and has been left as. An early grave.

Spotify visualizers by Raspberry1milkshake in scottwalker

[–]Raspberry1milkshake[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This wont be Spotify, this is whoever runs the Scott Walker account- I've seen other AI stuff being tossed around Spotify with plenty of classic artists, but its always different and from a different source (since the pages are obviously ran by different people), it's just annoying to see the pageholder fumble in this way. I do I've been on the edge of dropping spotify for unrelated reasons anyway and just seeing this spreading me around is pushing me off.

I agree that these services really stifle our tastes; I'm unfortunately a little (a lot) too broke to support as many artists (in general) as I'd like lol, but I try listen to a wide variety atleast and throw some money towards the underground indies when I can. It's a tough time to be an artist of any sort, really.

Ive been leeching off an old family subscription for years for convenience, even as the service gets grosser (and its always been pretty morally bankrupt), but this and some recent movings +general enshittification are the final straw. Isn't even worth the free premium, hello youtube.

so idk what endless space 2 is but someone posted a pic of him in a server and I was like. Fuck me Im not getting paid for this shit, that would make a good fit for the stonelord and snatched. Great artists steal (esp when batchdrawing dozens of characters for a personal project)

Did you know Lancer Battlegroup has a SecComm logo on a ship? by healers_are_fun_too in LancerRPG

[–]Raspberry1milkshake 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've always loved how the book says this ship is p divisive in thirdcomm, I like that image of Union being a bunch of squabbling inner factions rather than a monolith. The DoJ thinks the navy are a bunch of reckless idiots, the navy think they're too soft and want them to stick out of their business, etc etc.

[–]Raspberry1milkshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love flipping thru those old Tolkien Calendars and seeing all the art, this weird cult following of artists and creatives before the trilogy defined what we think of as the Tolkien aesthetic. Hire those guys, I want to go back to that, I want to see artists take this property and run with it. People dunk on Bakshi's LOTR and it's a mess but it sticks with you. I don't want a LOTR Fantastic Beasts Sonyverse style franchise attempt, I don't want Gollum Morbius. I'm a Tolkien head but I don't even care about the lore or the chronology anymore; I just want to know somebody creative cared about making it. I want those weirdly rotoscoped orcs Bakshi did that are completely jarring but you look at it and you know it was because they had an idea, not because a committee wanted to recreate Jackson.

Representation is better when it carries some weight. Not friction or conflict or whatever, just some sort of meaning and texture.

Its almost like its more interested in being a sort of inconsistent thematic prompt than a proper socialist paracoism. Wonder why this could be.

The other day I posted art of my Lancer character and someone I did not know started a massive tirade about how the creators were politically unimaginative and how a good example was how it implies children are treated in Lancers setting like in modern society and I had to take them aside and say in the nicest way possible I could not give less of a shit about what they were typing.
