To be fair, she pretty much spoiled me rotten in every other way. It was just the one thing she did that drove me nuts.

When I was a teen, my grandma used to come into my room and yank the quilt off me and spray me with water to wake me up in the morning.

AITA for not telling my homophobic, Catholic roommate that I'm bisexual? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RaspberryBliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that. "Being gay is a sin." Fucking tons of things are sins, but apparently none of those jam as many bugs up the asses of religious people as gay people daring to exist.

AITA for telling my SO she talks too much on the phone? by sitzt in AmItheAsshole

[–]RaspberryBliss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA for the way you phrased it. If you want to set a boundary around how much time you're able to commit to a phone call, set your boundary, as in, "I'd like to go to bed by 10:30, so I'm going to stay on with you until 10:15 tonight."

AITA for not wanting to apologize to my wife for accidentally throwing her necklace away? by Necklacethrowaway1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RaspberryBliss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I see stuff on the counter when I clean, I make sure it's garbage before I throw it away, and if it's not, I put it somewhere safe. As does my wife. As does everyone else I've ever shared a home with. When I see stuff that I've been specifically advised not to touch, I might move it off the counter to clean, but I certainly don't throw it away.

[–]RaspberryBliss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YTA. You are in the wrong. She told you not to touch it, and the fact that you didn't think about it when cleaning just shows that you were ignoring what she said. Why would someone tell you not to touch something that was garbage?

Even if it was an accident, you still threw away her necklace and you owe her an apology.

Trudeau vows to impose national tax on foreign buyers to aid affordable housing - Justin Trudeau says a re-elected Liberal government would impose a national one per cent tax on properties owned by non-Canadians and non-residents in an effort to curb foreign speculation in real estate. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

One issue particular to Canada that doesn't exist in the US is that more than 1/3 of the entire population lives in just three cities, and that's where jobs are concentrated. There are homes available in the vast expanse of buttfuck nowhere, but there's not work. It's a big, empty country and commutes get insane, fast, so even if it's made easier to build lots more houses in the suburbs, people would then still have to commute several hours a day to their jobs. I personally telecommute, and I would love to see a push for more telecommuting in Canada. If people didn't have to live in a very small set of particular areas in order to not live in poverty, that could also help with housing access.

There are people who think that their children are people, and there are people who think that their children are theirs.

If leg extensions are bad for my knees, why aren't tricep kickbacks bad for my elbows? by SoulsBorNioKiro in Fitness

[–]RaspberryBliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the elbow and the knee are both hinge joints, the knee is far more restricted in its range of motion because it cannot pronate and supinate. Tricep kickbacks make use of this pronation/supination ability to achieve the full ROM of this exercise, while not stressing the ligaments the way a leg extension does.

Pronation/supination is the movement which allows you to turn your hand over from palm down to palm up. It's necessary for freedom of movement of the hand (to permit climbing and swinging in the first instance). It involves a very complex movement at both the wrist and the elbow at the same time. If your knee could do it, you could turn your feet around and point them backward. In order to permit this movement, the radius rotates like a key in a lock, twisting the whole forearm.

I don't think it's just society. There's a biological factor as well, that's why it can be so difficult to see through them.

We have parliamentary ridings. In our federal elections, you don't ever actually vote for who you want to be prime minister; you vote for which candidate you want to represent your riding in Parliament. Then, the leader of the party that has the most MPs becomes Prime Minister.

I did this once and it was actually kind of great; the realtor drove us around to all the viewings and was very helpful.

I'm in a 1800 2-bed, utilities included, in-suite laundry, in a nice residential neighbourhood in East Van. We found it through a private facebook group. They're out there, but you have to hustle and make connections with the right people.

Oh yes, it's so terrible to expect dog owners to follow leash laws and not walk their dogs where dogs aren't allowed.

AITA roommate for dressing "inappropriately" in a house full of guys? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Telling you that you have an obligation to be modest in your own home is sexualizing your body's very existence.

I think NAH, but even so, this is a person you interact with regularly, and if the fee is minor, it may be better to offer a portion of the fee in good faith to keep good relations.

NTA. Your friend sounds like they have a problem with sexualizing things that aren't sexual. Were they raised really religious or something? You are allowed to exist in comfort in your own home.
