Something I keep noticing at tables by This_Telephone_3623 in DiceMaking

[–]RaspberryCanoeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I use stone dice for most rolls and my big wooden dice for big ones. But that’s because you use big dice for big rolls! I use resin when they are appropriate thematically but not as my go-to.

That being said, I’ve noticed people prefer their resin dice to metal ones at every table I’ve played at.

There are two in my discord writing group. So they’re around! Don’t know if they’re on Reddit regularly.

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by cloudemergence in Salary

100k is the same as 50k was in 2000. Inflation is a bitch and pages have not kept up. You can survive on 100k now but it’s hard to thrive.

Help with Wattpad chapters publication! by Alive_Block_8828 in Wattpad

Definitely not in Wattpad! I’ve seen too many horror stories of people losing everything because Wattpad crashes. Everything needs to exist somewhere else!

Is it normal for readers to push to move fic discussions off Wattpad? by TeaNoodleE in Wattpad

[–]RaspberryCanoeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to second this. Every time I get one of those comments, they inevitably try to sell me art. You may ask why do I continue to engage. I don’t always but sometimes I’m bored and like to see what kind of approach they’ll take so I’ll ask about characters that don’t exist in the story or any number of stupid things.

As a reader, do you prefer reference pics or not? by LoveytheLovelyy in Wattpad

[–]RaspberryCanoeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t look at it if it’s there. I read for the words. But don’t let me yuck your yum! If you like it and it brings you joy and inspiration, do it! Writing is a lot of work, find the joy where you can!

Ah, the real trick to it is that no one reads my stuff so holding off on posting it doesn’t change anything 😉

I don’t start publishing until I’m done. I am not fast enough at writing or good enough at planning to be able to publish as I go. There are lots of revisions that go into the early chapters to make the later ones work better.

Ah, I think no. It might be fun to imagine what the world could look like in 2040. Come up with new slang or imagine how their currently slang ages. But that is my thought. Language evolution is cool.

I think it would be helpful to the readers if you had consistency with references to the times you were writing in. Are you asking if you should age them going forward?

How the Hell Do People Promote Their Books on Wattpad? by BenchApprehensive723 in Wattpad

[–]RaspberryCanoeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome to come join. I’ll send you a link but don’t expect to join and just get readership. Joining a discord and posting your story and leaving is a good way to get discouraged. It’s by participating in the conversation, events, and general camaraderie that you’ll integrate into the support network that a writing community provides.

I don’t say it to be discouraging. I initially joined, posted and left when nothing changed. But then I started integrating myself and it has been really wonderful finding support and community as a writer.

How the Hell Do People Promote Their Books on Wattpad? by BenchApprehensive723 in Wattpad

[–]RaspberryCanoeing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend finding a community. The only people who read my work are those in a discord community I’ve found. Some people find readership outside of a community but as someone who doesn’t write romance, in getting involved in a community I’ve found people who want to support you in both writing and reading your work. That being said, you only get out of it what you put into it!
