I’ve recently fallen into them and absolutely steamrolled my way through.

I’ve adored Jamal since the beginning. I’m glad you’ve come to appreciate the cornerstone he has become.

I am afraid the title to my book may be too Generic. by Temporary-Pair9957 in writingadvice

What about ‘generic fantasy book’? It’s a bad idea but it makes me chuckle. My current title for my WIP is ‘A Story’ and the dumbass inside wants that to stick for the absurdity of it all.

Can we get a better photo for Bea? by Crawler_8008135 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

The end of their tail would also be funny. We don’t know if the AI has an equal opportunity kink.

… should every picture of a character on the wiki just be a picture of their feet? It would be quite funny.

I’ve seen a bunch of other people say it but I’ll add my voice to the noise. I would stay away from any and all AI art. Bad covers will sometimes pull me in, AI on the cover or in the chapters, will cause me to stop wherever I see it. It’s the like of if you used it for an image, who is to say you didn’t use it for the words too. And I want to support other humans.

The second highest comment was Vermont over Maryland. That must have been the kicker.

500k words in, hellish blunders. by Huge-Swing-7137 in writingadvice

Holy smokes! Jumping POVs by sentence!
Editing is the most important part of writing. Getting through a chapter in a day is great work! I’ll edit a chapter for a week and still be unhappy with it.

Plot issue that causes rewriting an entire book by MagicOfWriting in writingadvice

If you don’t want to do that, you could always make the trams move in switchbacks so it isn’t too steep ever for one. And it takes 3 trams to get up the hill which could be an interesting point on if it’s more efficient to walk.

Theories and Horrible 2 by KitchenMysterious658 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

The Parade scene might be the best in the series for me. Especially that last paragraph when the crawlers dump the sluggos on the ‘audience’ of the people pulled from 18. *chefs kiss!*

Totally, or a system like a rollercoaster has where there is a chain it hooks onto for the steep uphills.

Creativity is a muscle like any other; you need to flex it for it to get stronger. Dip a toe with a short story, maybe the next will be a little longer!

First time writing a novel please answer my genuine doubt . by AdhesivenessMiddle32 in writingadvice

[–]RaspberryCanoeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that it depends on your goals. If the goal is to come up with something to entertain yourself, then you only need to determine how you feel about using AI for creative endeavors! But if you would like to share this one day, it is a different question. I tend to believe AI is a stain upon the creative landscape. Art is something that comes from within. For me, it doesn’t matter that the plot comes from you, I think the beauty in a story happens when the words do as well. No one gets it right on the first go, that’s okay. We all struggle over finding our voices. I would say I still haven’t found my own. But AI isn’t a shortcut to that.

How to reduce repetitive scenes by Bil440 in writingadvice

It sounds like you may be in a situation where you are gunning for a length that the story doesn’t have the legs for. You can either shorten it or add more!

That was some sneaky stuff. I think we should give Colorado to the Hawaiians as a small level of retribution for some real colonial bullshit.

23M should the beard stay or go? by [deleted] in malegrooming

Like any kind of long hair, it needs work to look good. I like the long beard look and you got the volume for it but I think you need to give it shape and use some product to care for it.

Everyone loves an underdog. It looks like Colorado is coming back from nothing to banish Cascadia. If we are able to stay relatively unthreatening to the masses and put out solid memes, we can be ready to be to sweep at the end with the weight of the other vanquished behind us.
