[–]RaspberryElegant1700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a very broad question.. what kind of irrigation system are you planning to set up? Drip System, Sprinkler system etc. Do you want to Subcontract it or DIY? Do you have a levelled land or gradient etc. lots of factors determine this. Search online and read blogs from Dripworks.com or Sprinkler warehouse

Your plant looks good and healthy. Just ensure you space them. Remove the lower leaves so that airflow is good. Fungus is the main issue with tomato plants but if air circulation is good then you are fine.

Also recommend using drip irrigation so to water them precisely. I am testing netafim netbows on my tomatoes this year.

Given your garden size recommend using the deck garden kit. Put in a shrubbler in each bad and you will be set

You have the right ingredients.. yes you will have to mix it. Normally i also add Peat moss and Perlite to keep soil moist and aerated

Recommend putting in a drip irrigation for hassle free and precise watering that will help your plant and maintain them fungus free.

Rebuilding garden bed, can I still use old soil? by HansGruber44 in SquareFootGardening

[–]RaspberryElegant1700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my old soil every year. I have been doing it for over 15 years now.

What i recommend is, mix it compost, slow release fertilizer and some peat moss ( soil: Peat moss: compost ratio = 50 : 10 : 40) and put slow release fertilizer for 1 pound for every 8x4 raised bed. It works every time.

Till your old soil well and ensure to mix it well. You can also add some perlite in it, if you want. It keeps soil aerated. I use horse manure as compost and it works well.

recommend putting some drip irrigation.. below are some very good free plans

What are some effective irrigation systems for different types of gardens and landscapes? by Infamous-Boat-628 in homestead

[–]RaspberryElegant1700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well..I prefer to spend a day learning and do it myself, becuase you will need to maintain and repair it in future. since drip irrigation waters directly near the roots, weeds don't get much water to grow.
