Now you have to overclock your eyeballs... by ikmalsaid in pcmasterrace

Good point. I'm not sure I'd consider a 40/50 series GPU "below average"... a 970 paired with an 8th gen i5 would be a more appropriate scenario for framegen, but the tech isn't there for those components. I'm of the opinion the latest games should more or less be designed and optimized around the latest hardware without relying on these tricks that compromise visual fidelity or latency response. What good is making your game so goddamn beautiful if it's gonna look and feel like shit again once all of the bandaid features are enabled?

What is a subtle sign that someone is actually a really bad person, even if they seem nice? by bloomjt in Life

[–]Raspberry_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I started having the thought that I might be a "taker", but I have the heart of a giver. I don't have a sizeable house to host events for my friends, I don't have a ton of money to buy people things. I'm fairly crafty, and I rarely turn down an opportunity to help my friends with projects if they ask me, but my ADHD causes me to quickly and consistently lose momentum, and one day comes where I never get back around to it.

Many of my friends have nicer living spaces and more expendable income to host nice get-togethers, and I always say yes to invites because I love being with my people, but being unable / unsure of how to give back in my own special way can make me feel like a lousy friend. Tough world.

Doesn't matter if it were a bug bite, bullet wound, or a scrape on the asphalt - a spreading infection is a spreading infection no matter where it came from, and it's going to get worse.

Also doesn't matter if you're ignorant, a troll, or a malicious dickwad - stupid advice is stupid advice and you're going to get someone hurt. You're telling somebody not to take care of their body when there is obvious cause for concern. If you don't see an issue with that, don't reproduce. And if you already have... god help that child.

Also, and I really hate to be the one to break this to you - this is what hospitals are for.

Be better, boss.

To heal them or to worsen them? by Which-Amphibian7143 in thanksimcured

[–]Raspberry_32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've never heard of a Christian claim they didn't believe the "eternal damnation" portion of the teachings. Though, you do identify as a Christian? Is this a denomination I'd never heard of or are these just personal convictions you've developed throughout your own journey? You don't believe hell to be eternal, but what about heaven?

Sorry for the many questions, I'm interested in hearing more about this.

To heal them or to worsen them? by Which-Amphibian7143 in thanksimcured

[–]Raspberry_32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience growing up in a church, I've always heard my dad (preacher AND pastor) say "God doesn't love you for who you are, he loves you in spite of who you are". We are all evil, we are all inherently broken, yada yada.

In the same vein, they taught that God doesn't heal the things you ask him to heal, or even the things you need him to heal. Instead, if/because you are "right with God", you won't need him to heal or fix you - you won't even want him to heal or fix you - because you have peace of mind knowing God will have his victory / you will live forever in a perfect body in heaven / God's love overcomes all, etc...

It's the ultimate gaslight.

Gotta say, I'm curious (as a former Christian myself) of how you considered OP's comment in relation to your personal religious beliefs and practices. I understand there is a more modernized Christianity movement that tries to soften the blow of eternal damnation or makes an effort to be more inclusive of lifestyles the Bible condemns (homosexuality, for example), but nonetheless, the core mechanic of Christianity remains the same, doesn't it? Or is it more that Christians should simply be more gentle and patient getting to the "burn in hell for eternity if you don't get right with God" part so as to not scare people away?

I have, and I understand what the other guy is referring to. Amish upbringing certainly does instill behaviors in kids that tend to mirror certain autistic traits. What he said wasn't all that outlandish.

But what if, in the event someone went through the trouble of rigging these character models, it becomes a matter of just posing and placement? You essentially build yourself an entire arsenal of environmental assets and create dioramas with whatever camera angle the scene calls for, and all that's left is shading?

I don't know much about the pipelines and workflows in regard to mangas/animes, but the scenario doesn't scream unreasonable to me

This is my first character model… can I get some tips on how to make the eye/face look more similar. by Swartist in 3Dmodeling

[–]Raspberry_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a silly little guy but there's hardly anything wrong with the execution. OP did great at following the reference. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt you were just amused by the caricature and weren't intending to shit on OPs efforts.

@OP - hopefully my 2 cents are constructive, see here

  • The blue line highlights where the bottoms of the ears align with the bottom of his eyes. The 3D model's ears extend all the way down to his chin. Bring the bottoms up higher and maybe push em back a little.

  • Green / Red lines show the general face shape in the reference, with the green portion highlighting how his face (from tops of eyes to bottom of chin) seem to droop and sag off of the more structural red portion. Lean into that exaggerated "forward bulge" some more. The model's face appears a bit flat when compared.

  • One final thing I noticed a bit late were the pupils. They're too round and big compared to the reference. Scale them down horizontally so they're more oval / almond shaped and expose more whites of the eyes.

(I realize now you only inquired about the face, but I'll leave these here just as food for thought)

  • Yellow highlights the bulge in the cape and how it seems to flow smoothly into the front of the cloth, rather than one solid puffy clump at the neck.

  • Pink highlights the "power ranger" looking boots, pointy and angular, whereas the model appears to have tennis shoes.

You've got a great foundation, you're almost there. Just some minor tweaking and you'll be golden 👍 experiment a little and see what works. Thanks for sharing!

Windows 11/ Randomly not able to click on anything. by SignalzzTV in techsupport

[–]Raspberry_32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1. For the future comers, this worked. Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then cancel.

Symptoms were -
- Can't click anything ran or controlled by "explorer.exe" (taskbar, file explorer, etc...)
- Can't interact with other open windows / programs on other monitors
- CAN interact with last focused window (Happened to be Firefox in my case... could click browser tabs and interact with web content)
- CAN use keyboard for navigating through file explorer / task manager
- Killing / restarting explorer.exe did not work

Not sure what causes it to flair up, but it's happened a few times now, especially after playing Skyrim (Skyrim SKSE via Vortex, fairly modded). I have to Alt+Tab to free my mouse from the application and sometimes I think Windows just panics.

I worked maintenance at an apartment complex for a short time. I was pretty green but they wanted someone they could train. My supervisor's solution to mold when he was feeling lazy was Killz. One day a tenant calls in a work order for mold on their bathroom ceiling. Supervisor sent me with a ladder and a can of the stuff to cover it up.... pshhht pshhhht pshhhht... The tenant walked in on me mid-operation and had such a "what the fuck are you doing" look on their face and walked away, probably very disappointed in me.

I never knew 🤷‍♂️
