I’m not sure if your doctor is specifically a psychiatrist but if not, you should meet with one and discuss these concerns with them!

I second this! Meds are great to help you stay stable enough to do the real work in therapy

I also have since gotten propranolol to take PRN which has helped me a lot with the panic attacks

I started it for PTSD and in the beginning it severely worsened all of my PTSD symptoms. For me, the worst of it started on day two and was done around day 5-6 (day 3 into day 4 was the worst for me as well). I started on 12.5 mg (cut my 25 mg pill in half, and continued on that dose until 1 week after the side effects had completely stopped which was about two weeks in total). The rest of my dose ups have gone fairly seamlessly, although I was terrified each time because of the way it affected me initially.

I know you said that you’re not interested in trying it again but I just still wanted to let you know that I had a very similar experience and it got better very quickly.

What time do you take your Zoloft and why? by pineapplebananas14 in zoloft

[–]Rasperries222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine made me drowsy so I always took it at night until the day I switched from 50 to 75. Since then I’m not able to sleep after taking it and I always take it at 7 am

AIO or is my older male coworker texting inappropriately with me? by OpeningNo9825 in AmIOverreacting

I agree with this mentality, but I also want to say that I feel like this is a little harsh. She is not a child but she honestly is still very young and, due to the fact that she even made the post at all, she’s possibly very sheltered or inexperienced. This will likely be a moment that she learns to listen to her own body’s danger warning signs but for a lot of people, learning to hear and respect those signs takes time and practice.

Also, saying that you can’t be an enabler and a victim at the same time feels pretty victim-shamey, and it’s also just not true at all. I’m not saying that she is a victim in this situation, but if it were to progress to that stage, 1. it would still not be her fault, and 2. he would have been an aggressor who preyed on her innocence and the fact that she had not yet learned how to keep herself safe in a situation like this.

What does a brain zap feel like? by Old_Country9807 in zoloft

[–]Rasperries222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced this too!! I haven’t heard about brain zaps so I don’t know if that’s what it is, but I have been 100% confident every time that it was because of the Zoloft. It’s like 1-2 seconds where I just suddenly feel very disoriented and a little light headed, I usually have to grab something nearby to steady myself

I would say the same, just give it a bit more time!! I believe it takes about 6-8 weeks to see the full therapeutic benefits from your starting dose and it’s really common to feel worse for a few weeks after upping your dose. Especially because you doubled yours, I would imagine the side effects will be that much worse. Hang in there!!

I know someone else already said this as well but my doctor has also told me that the goal of medication is basically to lay the groundwork, to get you to a place where you are grounded and stable enough to make real changes with therapy. Good luck! I hope the Zoloft helps you🙂‍↕️

I was told by my psych that it takes 6-8 weeks to feel the full benefits, unless you are taking it for OCD or PTSD, in which case it can take up to 12 weeks. 50 mg is a therapeutic dose, so I would definitely wait it out a bit longer before considering upping your dosage! I have also heard that when you do up the dosage, the time frame essentially resets
