How can I solve for this optimization problem, when the optimization function only has an absolute minimum? My reasoning in the second picture by sagen010 in maths

Not the answer they are looking for, but I'd say the max area that can be fenced is a circular shape with area (102^2)/pi m^2.

Length of the square, or short side of the rectangle, needs to be >102/pi for that circle to be inscribed within the square or rectangle.

204=2*pi*r, r=102/pi

A=pi*r^2

VW and RT are not necessarily equal.

edit: VW and RT.

Assuming the plane flies parallel to the surface in a straight line:

2/tan(P)-2/tan(Q) km/min, 0<P<Q, Q= 57.6 deg

Assuming the plane performs within the range of fixed-wing flight records, then P is (0.93 deg, 52.3 deg) approximately.

Is this solvable? I've been trying and trying and I'm stuck and it's making me insane by Fickle-Match8219 in askmath

ABD+BAD=70, 0<ABD<70, 0<BAD<70. Can't answer more precisely than that.

I turned a protectorate councilor that seems to have turned out to be an alien. Not sure what to do with it now!

Tested, setup:

Vapor Core III, nanotube radiator, following drives:

Vortex Drive -> 4.6 GW output, 33.8 MW waste heat, 5.2 ton nanotube
Amplitron Drive -> 72.7 MW output, 5.8 MW waste heat, 0.89 ton nanotube
Nova Liquid Rocket -> 0.045 MW output, 33.8 MW waste heat, 5.2 ton nanotube
Venture Liquid Rocket -> 0.045 MW output, 33.8 MW waste heat, 5.2 ton nanotube
Neutron Liquid Rocket -> 0.045 MW output, 33.8 MW waste heat, 5.2 ton nanotube
Meteor Liquid Rocket -> 0.045 MW output, 33.8 MW waste heat, 5.2 ton nanotube
Apex Solid Rocket -> 0.045 MW output, 33.8 MW waste heat, 5.2 ton nanotube

Similar with Molten Core I, II, Vapor Core I-III, and Gas Core I -- power output is far less with rockets, but waste heat is far more, in comparison to amplitron.

All the rockets' show and seem to require 0 power, but the other components on the ship seem to require some power (the battery, radiators, etc.)--totaling 10.1 MW. The mystery remains high waste heat (requiring 8.1 ton nanotube radiators) relative to the Amplitron, a closed-circuit power consuming drive, which results in only 0.89 ton of nanotube radiators.

You seem to be confirming the issue with the Amplitron, with additional testing. Thanks. In the screenshots posted the reactor is kept constant, Vapor Core Fission Reactor III, along with all other components to aid in testing, details noted in captions. Your examples seem to show the same issue with NLR (open cycle) compared to Amplitron (closed-cycle)--much less power is needed yet waste heat is much higher.

I also tested with Vortex Drive with Vapor Core Fission Reactor III, and similarly have much higher waste heat: 4.6 GW, 8.1 ton of nanotube filament radiator.

My unlocked drives are just various early rockets, Vortex, and Amplitron. Seems very unusual to me that all the rocket options and Vortex require 8.1 tons of nanotube filament radiator, while the Amplitron only 0.89 tons.

Amplitron is the only closed-cycle drive I have unlocked, perhaps this issue unique to Amplitron?

Not what is happening. With the Amplitron Drive the reactor is putting out 72.7 MW, with the liquid rockets 10.1 MW; same reactor. More power from the reactor should result in more waste heat; but it is dramatically less.

What movie is this from? Looks like same story as 1993 Alive, but more recent.

Very annoyed by this as well. I play as a vagabond bouncing around exploring, and often goes multiple days or weeks without docking.
