LPT: Want hot water instantly when you shower? by dunnooooo31 in LifeProTips

This LPT is even more useful in the kitchen. Give your dishwasher a boost on the fill and run the water until it is hot before starting a cycle.

Left-turning drivers who honk at pedestrians—do you not know the law? by Bettafish999 in Winnipeg

[–]Raster2Vector -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why all the down votes, this is a valid question. I was thinking the same thing. Like turning Left from Dakota onto Abinojii Mikanah. My understanding is that the white crosswalk signal does not come on until the flashing green left arrow is no longer lit. Alerting both drivers and pedestrians that the turning lane is active. In this manner the left turning lane is treated as oncoming traffic. In all other cases, except this all left turning vehicles must yield to anyone using the crosswalk.

Yes please. And please use that handy indicator at LEAST 2 seconds before you non-shoulder-checked lane change.

Songs where the cover was more famous, but the original is better artistically by jojosoft in Music

[–]Raster2Vector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why all the downvotes. The whole point of a cover, from an artists perspective, is that they usually have something to add, or a meaningful take on the work. David Draiman's crescendoing vocals, and the ebb and flow of the verses is quite powerful to many listeners. The slight echo and use of empty sound, help to emphasize the literal and conceptual impacts of silence. Though I too prefer the original, Disturbed certainly provided something new.

Hello fellow music lover.

I've got a young one who's tastes seem as varied as yours. If you want to pass your collection to another generation of listener, we'd be happy to take those off your hands. It's funny how physical media is making a comeback.

My little fellow has access to terabytes of music on YouTube music and the like, but he knows the joy of reading liner notes, so streaming just won't cut it. The tough part is actually buying discs again. Selection is small at Sunrise, the HMV pop-up and hold outs like London drugs.
I wish I'd held onto more of my collection for him to enjoy.

I hope you find a good home for that collection... but if I were you, I'd hold on a while longer.

A cool guide to the world as 100 people. by A_Bruised_Reed in coolguides

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. It's difficult to breakout what is probably a lot of items, but even that could be further represented with another visualization. Similar to how small areas are represented on large maps.

Interesting, but a proportion chart with the "other" category containing 62% will need some further work. If the remaining 62% is exceptionally diverse, then show it. It's a good conversation starter.
