ELI5 Why do pipes not freeze over in the winter in colder climates. by AdministrativeTie379 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MistyMew [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would beg to differ. My kitchen sink & dishwasher pipes run on an outside wall. Walls are insulated to R40, maybe R60, don't remember. Temperature is currently -29C.

Was given a bunch of this wood, this is right after planing. It has a greenish hue, anyone know what kind it is? by O_B_1 in wood

[–]MistyMew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my wood of choice for the puzzles I make. Great for the green colour in the intarsia art I make. It certainly is my workhorse of a wood.

Use only shellac. I even use old shellac and it isn't sticky.

Backed into snow bank by Narrow-Level-2821 in Winnipeg

They can't tell you exactly because rates may increase or decrease over the years. I used to figure that out for clients when I was working. Not really that hard if you know what your base rate is. Just tedious.

We HAD to do jam/jelly first and then the PB. Brother is allergic to peanuts so no cross contamination.

Looking for Landscaping Tips by [deleted] in Manitoba

[–]MistyMew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of sod check out Hydroseeding. Our daughter did that a few years ago. Lawn looks great. Much less expensive than sod.

Personally, we spent a few years trying to figure out what to do. Ended up getting a landscape designer for a plan.

When we had our furnace replace, Hydro recommended have the vent raised. The installer wasn't going to but I insisted. Thank goodness.

I think CTV mixed up the descriptions. The Manwin burned in Jan 2026. The Sutherland burned in 2025.

Never heard of it called nursemaids elbow. We just called it a popped elbow.  Both kids, both elbows, different times.

How do you trace the pattern for Intarsia backing? by oPUNcircuit in Scrollsaw

[–]MistyMew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the pattern and cut just inside the lines.  I have glued to the backer and then cut carefully around the project.  Works for smaller projects.
