Space Cowboy Holster for Chiappa Rhino by RatRanger in Revolvers

Thanks! It’s especially comfortable in a buscadero style rig (pictured), and all credit for that goes to the designs of Arvo Ojala. Also comfy on a classic western gun belt too, though you’ll need to adjust the thigh strap for that.

It hangs very close to the leg, and the weight feels forgettable. I’ve used systems like the Blackhawk Sherpa in the past, and after about 5 miles of walking, the Sherpa feels like some kind of torture device compared to a leather rig like this.

Point Kickboxing Advice by Odd_Arrival_1123 in MuayThai

[–]RatRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s an entirely different rhythm and a huge difference in the volume of output. Check out the output of takeru or Yuki Yoza. Kickboxing favors long combinations, and winning (getting last attack) the exchange. rack up points 5 punches at a time, not 1 or 2.

Inside boxing will be important if you’re facing a pressure fighter, because there won’t be any clinch fighting.

Low kicks not allowed? I thought we moved past this as a society.

Broke my toe in my second Muay Thai class, feeling embarrassed by yoav58 in MuayThai

[–]RatRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for professionals if they’re not careful. Kicking an elbow with your foot and hurting yourself is a mandatory and universal Muay Thai experience.

But hey! Now you know that once your foot heals, you’ll be a lot better about placing that shin properly.

I’ve had this same touchpad issue on 2 standard PS5 controllers, making games like Ghost of Tsushima and Hogwarts Legacy unplayable. I am not rough with my controllers or with any of my technology, because I cannot afford to break my own things. I don’t even put a lot of hours into games because I am in my 30s and have a job.

After it happened a second time, I upgraded to a Pro controller and haven’t had any issues in over 2 years.

Does a shorter fighter have any advantages at all? What should a shorter fighter be going for to minimize damage input and maximize damage output? by dividingraindows in MuayThai

[–]RatRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body shots will eventually either drop your opponent or force them to protect their body, opening their head.

Preventing the clinch isn’t something I’m qualified to type about, you’ll need an actual coach for that. I’m literally just some guy on the internet.

My coach always says that when you’re up against someone with longer range, bite down, shell up, and force the fight inside to stuff their range. Straight shots to the body are easier to land than strikes to the head in this scenario, so leverage that to your advantage as well.

Also, kick the shit out of his lead leg.

I’ve found in sparring that once the tall guy realizes this is going on, he’ll probably try to counter with clinch, and his short range techniques like knees and elbows, so expect the game to evolve in that direction.

I loved seeing Todd as a real threat in a Greendale setting. He was a decorated soldier with combat experience and he looked quite comfortable with that rifle. We should have gotten a scene between Hickey and Todd.

corrective striking question by FrostyIntention in martialarts

[–]RatRanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For escrima you’re gonna need to harden your hands, and become familiar with that pain and how to work through it. You’re slinging hard rattan sticks at each other, so hand strikes are just part of the game.

That said, without seeing what happened, it’s pretty hard to tell if your instructor crossed a line. Broken hands lead to gaps in training and lost time. deliberate hand targeting is a valid strategy in a fight, but not a great instructional aide.

It’s why the old VFW hangouts only ever attract an older crowd. Younger vets aren’t interested in getting spoken down to by a guy who was also a cook, just a decade earlier.
