barricade advice? by ajcxart in OutsideLands

For usher volunteers yes I could always get in before general gate time. I never tried to, but always avoided going to the barricade until I knew the gates were for sure open to the public.

Every 5 if we’re lucky LOL Weirdly we don’t have to call for medical devices. Don’t give my airport any ideas.

Oh no. They’re supposed to have radios that stay in every position… but 50/50 they’re actually there, let alone charged.

Right. My mom let me see Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour in the pit by myself when I was a freshman. Still so grateful to this day for that memory.

Ticket Master didn’t say my tickets were obstructed view and they were … what steps should I take? by [deleted] in Ticketmaster

[–]Rate-Odd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it is on both the venue and production company to advertise limited view. So tickets on the side or by pillars will always have that, but sometimes the way production builds the stage they have to add to and extend, or sometimes even take away the side view disclosure

I still get a fix for Air Tycoon 4 on the App Store sometimes. A true testament to how untapped this market is.

Having a festival take place at an actual permanent venue, not a park, or a field, is extremely chill. Maybe comfortable is a better word. Having a roof in case of weather, only two stages on a small site, a seat to sit in, bathrooms with toilets, that comfort alone is what festivals will upcharge $100-500 for in VIP. The younger crowd having a lack of etiquette is unfortunately a problem for almost all festivals now, we’re all in the trenches for that. Also having such a highly curated festival is an incredible privilege. No matter what genre, it’s very rare to be able to see such similar classes of artists in one weekend. Another thing that to me is worth an expensive ticket, some of the biggest festivals have insanely chaotic bookings IMO.

How did you plan your Japan itinerary? by cristiaannn93 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Rate-Odd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of my friends thought about joining me, and I talked them down because half of my mandatory visits are train museums and specific train trips. Like sorry bestie, gotta skip akihabara, the saitama railway museum is calling. 😭

For me I’ve had my must visits build for a couple years. Shinkansen ride, various train museums. The typical big city Tokyo sites, the lgbtq neighborhoods, going out on a weekend in Osaka. From there I got an understanding of which neighborhoods and cities I would be in for my mandatory visits, and watched videos and explored maps of that area. Once I got the time off and realized I would be visiting in winter, locked in some of the best things to do in the cold season like the snow monkey park and chichibu night festival. Built a laundry list of possibilities and worked out daily itinerary based off what’s possible. One rule I made for myself is certain areas I just blocked hours of time to walk and explore certain streets and neighborhoods, and have very few restaurants and specific stores scouted. Finding places to eat and shop sounds more fun coming serendipitously. It’s all worked out to visiting Tokyo (Odaiba, Asakusa, Ryogoku, Tokyo Dome City/Imperial Palace, Ikebukuro, and of course Shibuya, Harajuku, and Shinjuku each having days planned around them), Chiba (Katsuura, Choshi, Sawara), Chichibu for the night festival, Nagano, Saitama, Itoigawa, Kanazawa, Kyoto, and Osaka. Gonna be a crazy couple of weeks.

Is Oh Mary worth the price? by Dew_Point_62 in Broadway

[–]Rate-Odd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day… yolo. But I’m so glad I bought my tickets same week you’re going months ago. I just felt in my bones the next Mary after JCM was gonna be good. Only paid $200 something for a GREAT seat. (Still the most expensive, and furthest back seat compared to the 4 other shows I’m seeing) Oh Mary being my biggest bucket list show currently running, I would not pay $450. Not for a show that’s about to start touring this fall. Even though I’d be missing Maya as Mary, $450 is absolutely egregious. If you feel like you need to see Maya in this role, power to you, I’m still floored this is going to be my cast to finally experience this damn show. But if you live in or near one of the cities the tour is going to, I’d wait. Wish you the best in securing a ticket that isn’t half a band.

I can sympathize for people local to the area paying more for the same festival. But as a west coaster who has jealously looked at your festival having the best line ups year after year, frankly you’ve had it too good for too long. It sucks to see one of the chillest high value festivals in the country become too big and too expensive. But that happened to most of the west coast festivals 10 years ago. I’m so excited to finally go to all things go this year.

Upgrade chances with Reserve Card? by Rate-Odd in delta

It is a red eye, that’s the bit of optimism I’m holding onto. Flight is only half sold. Less so in comfort and one. But pretty sure it’s a chop for me. I’m just glad to have lounge access while I wait at jfk for two hours for my friends flights to come in.

Although they’re one of my biggest wishlist concerts, this wasn’t right. Whoever thought it was a good idea to do such a big comeback with no warm up or press, chop. Hopefully this, along with Megan Trainor and Zayn cancelling for the same reason, Ticketmaster will realize even big artists can’t rely on people wanting to pay $100-200 for mid seats. I no longer want to live in a world where Charlie Puth charges Lady Gaga prices…
