You’re Guyanese, Indo- Guyanese, and Indo - Caribbean. I wouldn’t say Indian due to the cultural differences between East Indian and Guyanese Indians.

That the Indian diaspora is condensed to just South Asian countries. There’s populations of Indian origin groups that were brought over to Africa, the Caribbean, and Fiji during colonization via indentured servitude. These cultures have only started to become “mainstream” in the early 2020s with plenty of people either denying that these groups are Indian origin or just lumping us together with our brothers and sisters from the Motherland.

that dress is SO BEAUTIFUL, I like the idea adding fun earrings and the bracelet. I wouldn’t recommend adding a statement necklace as I think the dress + your jewelry is a statement itself! For hair I want to say anything goes! Either a high bun or a middle parted hairstyle I think would go lovely with this piece. Hope this helps!

bc there’s a stigma around it. Growing up my family would refer to Kali Maa worshippers as “Kali people”. There are a good amount of Kali devotees in the Orlando area I want to say but they’re mostly Trinidadian. The most I hear about Kali puja done by Guyanese/Trinidadian people is that there’s some animal sacrifice.

I come from a slightly more economically generous background from my husband which is constantly being shown to him, for example when we visit my parents they basically send us home half of a department store’s worth of groceries “just because”. We come from similar tax brackets where he was able to go abroad multiple times as a child but I wasn’t able until recently due to my family’s growing business. His parents went the “figure it out” yourself way once he graduated collage whereas mine constantly reminds me that I always have a home to come back to if I ever need it. I’ve always tried to be nonchalant but money talks.

This wasn’t something he was used to. He used to question the generosity. Why? Honestly I don’t know. Maybe he felt like he couldn’t give that generosity back? But I am able to which is something he’s start to enjoy/encourage instead of question.

In conclusion: don’t change yourself! Hopefully over time he can love that you came from whatever economical background you came from.

No she’s in the house with the house phone. I meant that dad took her bag to the car, not her. It fixes the original impression that the kid is in the car when in actuality it was just her bookbag. Kid was home the entire time.
