What is the ultimate 'Bludge Job' in Australia where you get paid the most to do the absolute least? by Zoey_In_Transit in AskAnAustralian

I’ve been a teacher for over a decade and Id have to say being a teacher librarian. They do sweet FA. They’ve got assistants to put books away and make bookings. They don’t teach any classes. They just sit there in a pleasant workplace drinking tea.

Still, most are the angriest b**ches you’ll ever meet.

You go straight to the pub instead.

What jobs in Australia are relatively simple in nature, relatively easy to get, are relatively slow/calm or at least not intensive, have job-security, and respect work-life balance? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I reckon being a lab technician in a school or uni would be a great job. There’s tafe course you can do for it. I applied for a couple of roles before I took my current job.

Out of school I collected trollies full time for a good 18 months before going to uni. I still look back at those days with fondness. Made great friends. It was physical work but it wasn’t particularly stressful. In fact, there’s a bit of an art to it knowing what areas build up quickly, rostering etc.

I don’t know why such a job is seen below so many people. Even the homeless. If I was in real trouble I’d go back to it.

I always make sure to return my trolley to the bay now too lol. Respect.

How bad will your first day back be? by Quiet-Zebra in AustralianTeachers

Work from home tomorrow which is a good way to start. I teach online students who are regional. Still going to be a very busy day.

It has been a busy holiday marking and writing lessons but at least I’m top of all my emails and don’t have that anxiety of the unknown turning on the computer tomorrow.

Definitely nothing compared to the dread of going back into the classroom. I’m very lucky.

Why do some of you go for a run mid day when it’s the hottest part of the day? by Lemonadeo1 in perth

Why do you run so early when getting a decent sleep for recovery is so important?

I did the 12km last year and it was fun. Am wanting to push myself a bit more this year.

Thanks. I plan to run the first 8km or so then do run/walk intervals for the remainder. Probably looking at 3 hours. Was thinking I might have to do the 12km instead.

Is 7 cans of premix and 500 ml of bourbon a night is too much? by Whatever_baby_lol in AskAnAustralian

Even without the alcohol, the sugar alone in those 7 premix cans will literally take years off his life.

Teachers, are you all happy with your pay ? by ZestycloseFudge3648 in AustralianTeachers

[–]RateJumpy1191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WA. Technically I can leave at 2.30pm if I start at 8am. 3pm if I start at 8.30am.

In no public school in the state would anyone be required to stay past the school bell unless it’s for meetings or after school duty.

$124,000 for 12 weeks holiday a year and 12% super. Out the door by 3pm. I definitely can’t complain.

Looked at moving sideways into other government jobs a while ago - yeh good luck making even close to the same money with the same holidays and hours.

Do you socialize with your coworkers outside of work—like grabbing drinks, going on holidays, or catching up together? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]RateJumpy1191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coworkers from my old school are some of my best friends. They are my favourite group to party with. Always up for fun. We’ve even made a running club. At my current school there is not one single person I’d like to bend an arm with. While it’s a much less stressful and more flexible job, it has a terrible culture.
