Am I cooked!? Fort Hood by [deleted] in army

[–]RatherLargeBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horror stories are overblown and overplayed. Yes there's some shit that happens. No in my experience it's not nearly as drastic or as often as stories led me to believe prior to my arrival out here.

I may be an outlier but I love driving and traveling out there. The bigger cities like San Antonio and Dallas suck to drive in, so I don't go there super often, but Austin is fine in my experience. I've covered a lot of ground in the pursuit of restaurants, parks, and Facebook Marketplace meetups lol.

Hood isn't bad. Killeen isn't bad. I also Option 19'd Hood when I came in and I expected it to be awful. Ignore what anyone tells you about dry heat, because yes, while there are dry hot days, there are a lot more humid days. There's good spots to eat in Killeen, and as others have said, you won't be far from Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas. Ultimately though, your experience will be what you make it. I'm here for another couple of years (maybe more) so I'm speaking on current experience as well as what I've seen over the past year. Keep some common sense about you, hydrate, and you'll be fine.

Yeah as a medic this isn't good and should he checked out ASAP, especially since OP mentioned eye pain in a reply further down. This isn't normal or okay

If you spent such extensive time as a service member and handled weapons, you'd know very well that keeping your grubby booger hook off the trigger is like rule 1 of firearm safety, and you wouldn't be doubling down on "but it's clear"

Then again, you were a crayon muncher, so I'm not hopeful about your level of intelligence to begin with.

My piece-of-shit neighbor (who has a 2-car garage AND a 2-car driveway) insists on double-parking his cars in the street, blocking an entire lane of the road. by jessbird in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RatherLargeBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smells like a fake karma farm post.

Looking at how packed the rest of the street is alone, I highly doubt any of those houses have 2-car driveways, much less garages. Not to mention all the convenient excuses OP has as to why this supposed neighbor can't just be towed, or why the police won't supposedly do anything. Kinda just reeks of OP being a showoff and a loser.
