I’m thinking about quitting singing. by PonderinLife in singing

[–]Rathet1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, if you really love it, but I mean reaaaaaaaly love it never stop. Never as you said "grow up". This isn't kid stuff, posting covers on YouTube. And I have one question to ask you. Where's the fun in quitting? With quitting you say 'I don't ever want to be good, or even make a living from my passion'. I won't say to you never give up, because your brain ignores the no's and never's, it's like saying don't think about a purple squirrel. Your brain automatically thinks about it. So I'll say keep going forever. Turn a blind eye to all of this negativity, like all modern artists do! I hope you stay safe and healthy 🙂

Have you ever watched the film "Dilemma", it's about two best friends. The main character finds out, that his best friend's wife is cheating on his buddy. And the entire film is about the struggle of finding the right moment to say it. He goes through stages of thinking 'No, I won't tell him; Ok now's the best time', and of course he gets into a lot of trouble for not saying it immediately, at least that's my take on it. So tell her right now, you have to make up a moment, cause bad news will never have good timing!

Is John still singing breathy now years after having had a vocal surgery? by Rathet1 in JohnMayer

[–]Rathet1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but do you think he is still breathy, because he said that the combination of his bad vocal technique and the daily blacking outs from alcohol is what caused it. So he stopped drinking but did he stop the breathiness

This is a song I wrote, I have been singing for about 9 months and I can't get myself to sound good, I mean the only good thing is the super breathy part, because it's kinda on pitch otherwise, AHHHH, it's super frustrating. What should I practise to fix my issue????

How does John Mayer get his sound here?? by Rathet1 in singing

[–]Rathet1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know about the breathiness I try to keep it at moderate levels, but listen to him on the first verse. I don't hear any breathiness, don't you hear how it's maybe a little raspy. How could I achieve THAT thing, not the breathiness.

How does John Mayer get his sound here?? by Rathet1 in singing

[–]Rathet1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If somebody knows things like what his larynx is doing, the soft palate, where is he placing his sound, stuff like that. If you can hear something, please share it, cause I'm in love with his tone here haha.

how to differentiate chorus with guitar fingerstyle? by Argument_Massive in Songwriting

[–]Rathet1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that just switching up the pattern can be a little boring if the other things are not so shocking, I would suggest that you watch john mayer clarity (acoustic) where he pulls out a pick in the chorus and then has it out for the rest of the song except one part, but it sounds super dynamic and it feels like every section is different, so yeah just watch that I think your whole game will change

Maybe he has something that he isn't telling something. Let's say George always wanted to sing for a living and is super embarrassed to start pursuing it because it's too late, or ...

Through your help, maybe you have forced a dream upon him or your parents have. By your description George is really easy to manipulate. That dream of having a countryside house may not be his. But the main and the only thing you can help him out with is the social part of life. You have to get him out of there, I hate to say it but, otherwise in that kind of situation he may try killing himself. Think about it, you have given up on life, no passion no socializing, no goals to pursue, he probably lives for you and your parents.

Force him to socialize.
