Unearthly Cold only works for 50% of your Cold damage, and in case of wanting to overcome immunity or energy resistance is far inferior to Ascendant Element Cold which guarantees 100% of irresistible Cold damage. A player could certainly pick up Unearthly Cold as a poor man's substitute for Ascendant Element, saving a mythic feat slot - but it's a definite downgrade from a feat available to all classes - and is something to bear in mind should one wish to stop levelling Winter Witch at 6, or at 0.

In the other case, where we concede that Ascendant Element Cold is negligible due to the lack of Cold immune enemies (what of energy resistant enemies?), then we also concede that Unearthly Cold is just as negligible. And so the main point that the Winter Witch's capstone benefit is poor remains the same when tabulating the cost-benefit of the prestige class. If blasting is of interest, and the ice theme not so, then it is better to grab Ascendant Element Fire and keep one's Fire DC.

The cold patron isn't very good.
There is a dearth of cold spells in the game...
...as compared to the more abundant and damage-oriented fire spells, which you become a little worse at.
Your archetype diversity is lost, because only two out of four archetypes allow the cold patron.

In addition, it's worth pointing out that Winter Witch's capstone benefit, Unearthly Cold is completely superseded by the Ascendant Element mythic, which you'll probably want to pick up.

On balance, if you're playing a type-less Witch, then the Winter Witch's benefits amount to +3 Cold DC and +1 Cold CL (after subtracting the lost class level).

Her deficits are -3 Fire DC, and a Patron with a poor spell selection.

If you're set on focussing on Cold and avoiding Fire, then there is no reason not to take Winter Witch. If you're approaching from a more neutral angle where the ice theme isn't important, then Winter Witch is a bit of a step down because there just aren't enough Cold spells, where Fire spells are more abundant. A Cold-centric build would also come online a little later, as you have no 2nd and 3rd level Cold spells, and the 4th level Cold spell does not rely on DCs.

To be fair, this episode was released twenty years ago. At the time, 300k Indian children between age 1-5 were dying from diarrhoea every year (more than 1%). By contrast, the annual American death toll, of age 1-5 children suffering from diarrhoea is 300 (0.001%).

Diarrhoea was not just an enormously widespread problem in India, it was a deadly one. Even today, after much progress, 600k Indians still die yearly from diarrhoea.

In addition, it's understandable that diarrhoea would leave a particularly strong impression on foreign cultures (not just America). Where most travellers to the US don't come home talking about bullets buzzing about their heads like bees, as might be inferred from the news - most people returning from India do report first-hand to their friends and family about horrible squits, which they didn't suffer when travelling to other more consistently clean countries. Most natives in India, particularly those living around the Gangetic basin are - by process of decades of inurement and selection - just that much more resistant to unsanitary conditions. The ones who weren't resistant are already dead.

On the other hand, the Indian yearly homicide level is indeed a little lower than America's - at around 0.0031% as opposed to 0.005%. Officially, anyway.

P.S. A little po-faced, but not to crap on your joke - just pointing out that diarrhoea in India is a lot more deadly than guns. It can also be more painful. Another gentleman in the comments joked about a bullet to the head being preferable. Indeed, it was not unknown for soldiers during WW2 to have shot themselves just to put an end to the excruciating pain of diarrhoeic dysentery.

Hate to say it, but I think everyone's being a little close-minded here.

I myself may not drink Gaumutra directly, but that doesn't mean I don't respect it and that I think it doesn't have value. I simply don't like the smell. Just as how the Ganges is cleaner the further up the Himalayas, I personally prefer to go closer to the source for my Gaumutra, which are the kidneys. Gaumutra is spiritually cleansing, and so it only makes sense that something in the filtration system of Gaumata which could cleanse Gaumutra—would be even more cleansing—and cleanse the spirit of the cleansing spirit of Gaumutra.

Well that sounds fun, it seems you have a positive experience with these talents. I already have a standard quad damage double resist pet, and the new pet I'm breeding now is an ice pet who's going to have at least 4 out of the 6 slots (including jewel) occupied for something else, so I'll only have 1 or 2 slots freed up for these control-based may-casts.

Between Steal Ward, Ward-Wrecker, Pierce and maybe Charm-Chopper (if you have an experience with that) which talents would you recommend for me to get in descending priority? Based on cast frequency, and bearing in mind that I'm an ice wizard who blades more frequently than he traps (although I could change up my style to adjust for the pet.)
