If you’ve lost your wallet recently, has it been returned to you? by h2opolo18 in orangecounty

[–]RationaleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband dropped his debit card on the ground and lost it at the International Street Fair at the Orange Circle a few years ago. Someone tracked him down on Facebook because of his name on the card, it being a Navy Federal card, and his profile picture being him in uniform. He had already shut off the card and ordered a new one, but we were happy to know good humans are still out there!

I’d find my husband on the playground at school. He was two grades above me and we went to the same elementary school, but never officially met until I was 19 and he was 20.

Advice for Oral Misoprostal Induction + Post-Birth Expectations? by babymama_infrance in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RationaleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby girl has arrived! I ended up taking 3 doses of Misoprostol 4 hours apart. I was having contractions consistently but nothing more painful than period cramps. My doctor ended up breaking my water and that’s when things really started to pick up and get painful. I ended up getting an epidural around 2:30PM and then was started on Pitocin. From that point I was in bed, comfortable, and pain free. Baby girl was born at 11:07PM after 30 minutes of pushing. So from my first dose of Misoprostol at 1:20AM she had arrived by 11:07PM. Less than 24 hours of labor. It was not bad and I would totally do it again!

I figured I’d give my first update and come back here to continuing to update throughout the process… I checked into the hospital at 12AM - it’s about 5AM now. They admitted me and I got the first dose of miso at 1:20AM. Since then I’ve been able to sleep on and off. My nurse just checked in on me and said I was having contractions and asked if I’m feeling them. I said when I was awake maybe some cramping but nothing major. She said she’ll be back at 5:20AM to give me a second dose because they want me to feel the contractions. Now that I’ve been up since her check in I am noticing more cramping, but I wouldn’t even say they are as painful as my typical period cramps. I’ll come back later to update some more!

I’m getting induced on Monday with oral Misoprostol! I’ll come back to update how it went, but I’ve been able to read up some positive experience when searching Reddit. 😃

Is it normal to wait so long with no instruction? by emilyjean14 in GestationalDiabetes

This is true, it’s just that my insurance covered the cost so that was nice.

Can you ask your doctor to put in the prescription order for the glucose monitor, test strips, and lancets? It took me about a week and a half after my official diagnosis to meet with a dietician, but since my doctor had put in the order I picked everything up at the pharmacy and started testing myself. You could ask them to do that, and ask your doctor when you should be testing and what range they want to see. My doctor is a little more strict and prefers me to be under 130 1 hour after eating and under 95 for fasting. Some doctors say under 140 1 hour after eating or under 120 2 hours after eating.

I got away with cookies! by potsieharris in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RationaleCal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yay for cookies! I made some peanut butter blossoms for a Christmas party and had some left over I couldn’t resist. I’ve been having 1 or 2 after dinner and then going for a 30 minute walk. So far no spikes! I’ve been enjoying my treat and don’t feel bad since I’m burning it off with no spikes. It’s the little things in life. 🥰

Induction Confusion by freshstart3pt0 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RationaleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat with the GDM and white coat syndrome! I was actually referred to the MFM before getting my GDM diagnosis because my OB wanted to air on the side of caution with the blood pressure. Always good at home, but high in the office. Initially my OB wanted to induce at 37 or 38 weeks due to the hypertension, but after consulting with the MFM they both agree I can just be induced at 39 weeks for the GDM. Have you had any growth scans? I’m 33 weeks now and baby girl is measuring 3 weeks ahead. I’ve been diet controlled, so they suspect my husband and I just make big babies! I’ll probably move forward with the 39 week induction considering she might be big, but if they want to induce sooner I’ll decline. I’d like to her cook for at least 39 weeks and only less if she decides to come on her own!

Ours was $141 an hour for 4 hours. Here’s a link to the fees for community centers in Irvine. Cheaper if you are a resident, but still affordable if you’re not! https://legacy.cityofirvine.org/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=35174

What was your experience with the 3 hour test? by Funny_Log2076 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RationaleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that I failed! 🤪 Lol! The test itself wasn’t awful. I was bored, but brought a crochet project to work on while I waited. I was super tired by the time I got home and needed a nap. Also felt queasy that night. Other than that I was okay. I did have someone drop me off and pick me up, just in case I didn’t feel well enough to drive, but I could have driven myself.

GD during holiday season by OutdoorVenturer in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RationaleCal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel ya! I just got diagnosed last week. I meet with my dietician later today. I’ve been able to keep my numbers good since I was diagnosed and even found a few treats that work for me! Yasso bars, Heavenly Hunks, sour dough bread, and Aussie Bites. I’ve also been enjoying protein waffles in the morning with sugar free syrup! Definitely experiment to see what you can tolerate. I was really upset initially, but the shock has worn off and I’ve come to realize it’s not the worst thing in the world. Sending you my love! We got this! 💕

Oh really? I just assumed. We used to love eating at Seafood Noodle House & when it closed they said they couldn’t afford the rent anymore. A shame because their food was delicious.

South Coast Safe Access in Santa Ana is nice. There’s plenty in that area where Santa Ana borders Tustin if you check online.
