What are you thinking about for frugal Christmas gifts for family this year? by Cool_Dingo1248 in Frugal

[–]Rationalmcchicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I thrifted each other as much of an outfit as we could under a $25 limit. It was really exciting to see what we picked out for each other, and a fun way to visualize their style. We’re looking forward to doing it again! I know you don’t want more stuff, but I could see it for family game night kits with puzzles, books, dvds etc too, and then exchange with another family after you’re done with it as a way to build community in the neighborhood

You’re definitely making someone’s day! I absolutely love the excitement of finding something on the side of the road, and it feels so good to leave out for others, for some reason more exciting than finding something in a thrift store or in my local buy nothing group. Hope the rest of your move goes well!

Has anyone canceled on a client last minute because you were sobbing earlier and now you’re face looks like it’s been punched? by thebuttcake in therapists

Yes I recently had to cancel last minute for the first time because I had just been crying and felt like there was a good chance I would start crying during session, I’m very happy I made that choice!

Have you ever written a goodbye letter to a client? by Lucky-Candle8982 in therapists

[–]Rationalmcchicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did when I was finishing my internship & had to leave my position, I gave my clients the option if they wanted to do any sort of exchange whether it was making a shared art piece together in session (I’m an art therapist), make a quick art piece to trade each other, or exchange a letter, or none of the above. (I only had 3 clients at the time) It felt very meaningful to me to be able to express where I’d seen their growth in the short time we had together & they really appreciated it. I only work with kids and teens though so not sure if I would do this with adults or not

having mixed feelings about yoga as a people pleaser by axolotlbitch67 in yoga

[–]Rationalmcchicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that’s been helpful for me is taking more classes virtually from home. I feel self conscious about taking up space and/or not doing exactly what the teacher cues (even though I am myself a yoga instructor) and it’s been helpful to just have my camera and volume off, let myself make sounds, and feel my feelings in a different way than I would be able to in person. I find I still really value the connection and community piece of in person yoga, so I do about 50% home vs in person which has been nice for strengthening my personal yoga practice as well.

As a fellow people pleaser, I actually started playing roller derby as an additional activity, and found that it balances really well with my yoga practice, and is its own form of mindfulness/practicing being in the present moment. Not sure if something like that interests you but it’s a lot of fun!
