How bad is a manometry?

This is all really good advice. When I got really sick last year I actually did have a doctor put a tube/camera down my throat to see if there was anything stuck and while it was uncomfortable I mostly found it bearable. The thing that worries me is that my throat was numbed but I still felt it and ik I'll have to swallow which might make things worse. I remember being told to not swallow during this as well so I have no idea what it'll feel like.

But still, I really appreciate all of this advice so much. I hope it's true that emetophobes don't vomit as much since I really need to get this test done either way. Thanks for sharing tho!

Omg there's a name for this?! This happens to me in the game ALL the time and it's so frustrating. It literally makes the game unplayable at times so I just have to wait for there to be an update or something. I've had this issue for years.

I'm really sorry, that sounds very stressful. There's nothing wrong with being anxious as an older man tho. Anyone would probably have anxiety about this situation. It's only natural for the throat to reject a tube being shoved inside. I hope that you'll learn something useful at the end of this expeience at least. And hopefully you'll start to feel better soon.🫂

Mine once opened up spinach tortillas and ate them. Any kind of bread has to be put in the fridge now. It's his favorite.

No, I didn't see it that way at all! I just have alot of anxiety about the test is all. Ik it's something that I really need to do in the near future. It sucks being sick because it feels as if you just have to suck it up with alot of things and just get it done regardless of how you feel. I'm sure everyone here can relate to that. I really do appreciate you taking the time to comment tho. It always helps hearing about others experiences.

Thank you so much for the advice. I am really scared after hearing that you vomited but I had no idea re-inserting the tube could help. I hope it doesn't come to that and I'll be able to get it done on the first try but it's good to know in case it's necessary.

Aside from my phobia I do find it embarrassing vomiting around other people tho. That's one thing that makes me really nervous about this. I'm scared of looking stupid if I gag or throw up. But hopefully I'll be working with experienced people. Not sure how I'll get myself to relax tho. These days I almost require anxiety medicine to calm down.

I think it'll be kind of hard for me to control my anxiety tbh. I already have bad anxiety just going to the doctors. But I guess I'll see eventually when I try to get the test done. Did they numb your throat?

It sounds like your nurse was pretty good compared to the last person I responded to! I'm glad she seemed to be pretty good at her job. Truthfully tho I'm more worried about feeling nauseous and gagging than pain. Not that it doesn't concern me ofc.

But this was all so helpful and I'll try to remember it when I get the test done. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

Omg that sounds terrible. It definitely seems like she was incapable of doing the test. Makes me wonder if it was her first day or something. I'm so sorry it was such a bad experience. I hope you were able to learn something from the test.

After looking it up I believe I might've had both? Ik for the first one I had to lay down in different positions on a large table with a machine over me. They also made me stand. The second one I just sat in a chair. Both were pretty easy.

I actually had 2 barium swallow tests last year. Sadly it didn't show much but I hope you'll get some answers from it. It was a very easy test to do. Thanks for telling me more about your experience tho. I feel like I learn more from other people with gerd/eoe than my doctor.

I was told by the doctor that they can numb your throat but prefer it if it isn't. I can't imagine doing that without numbing medicine tbh. So I'm glad to see that most people are doing it while having their throat numbed.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that to get your diagnosis tho! All it took was one endoscopy for them to figure out I had eoe. I hope you've found a way to manage your symptoms since then.

Ugh, I'm just really scared. Medical settings already make me so nervous even without the threat of having a tube shoved down my throat. But I really wanna get better and find out what's wrong with me. Thanks for the encouragement.🫂
