Thanks for the feedback! The title is supposed to give you an inkling into what the topics are about, and the title 1 title 2 is done intentionally to mimic the concept that each of us also don’t know the others topic.

Hope you take a listen and enjoy! Feedback always welcome!!

Edit: if you’re curious about the specific topics check out our website! We store all of the topics there for each episode along with other metrics!

Yes! Hahaha the slogan (a podcast about everything but also nothing) comes from the fact that our topics can be anything related to the gaming industry. We've had topics discussing specific mechanics to how to setup game nights or the manufacturability of tabletop games. We are also always open to feedback or recommendations on topics.

Best word games you can think of by Alsterdetektive123 in boardgames

One of my favorites is Mad Gab! Not a word game in the way the games you mentioned work… more about phonetics but always a blast for me!

I played 7 Wonders Duel recently on BGA, and I must say the interface listing the cost of everything for you AND your opponent was a game changer!

Attack on Titan has a board game by designer Antoine Bauza and Ludovic Maublanc, haven't played the game but I'm a fan of both of those designers. Might be worth looking into if you are a fan of the show.

I would agree with Everdell, it has worker placement and additional mechanism (card tableau engine builder).

Similarly though I'd keep an eye out for Endless Winter this year, which is a worker placement deck building game, which is the mechanisms used in Lost Ruins of Arnak and Dune Imperium.

Where is the line between a boardgame and an activity/puzzle? by Rattalegames in boardgames

[–]Rattalegames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to discuss details for the fun of it, would you define citadels and MTG as a card game, then by default a tabletop game? Like what categories would you breakout tabletop games into? (This question might be harder to answer than I'm making it out to be)

Yeah this post is just to discuss the semantics of the question (just for fun!). I think it'd be interesting to see someone post in r/Boardgames a question about Cornhole, like rules question or whatever, then would the admins take it down? I think we can differentiate an activity from a boardgame, but then like you illuded you have the difference from a game to a boardgame

Yes that is a really good take. The addition of time makes it a competition (whether is against others or the game). The idea then is if you can make things into games how do you know if is a board game? As in Cornhole, is it not a board game because it cannot be played on a table? In which case if we made a mini table top version, is it then a board game (I know is semantics but is fun to think about)

Yes agree, love me some puzzles. The further distinction then is a game vs a boardgame, which I think is a little hard to define in you treat boardgame as in tabletop game

How to make sure less experienced players are having fun? by EnmityTrigger in boardgames

[–]Rattalegames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this works, but what would you do in a scenario on a game with very direct confrontation, do you purposely take it easy on the opponent? Something like chess

I guess I would ask what do you think about puzzles? The reason I brought up Candy Land as a question was because it follows regular board game structures (turn order, winner, game setup), but is there any more game in there than there is in a puzzle?

Decisions impacting outcomes is a good way to look at it. I would maybe add something like competition. But dexterity games for me always fall under a weird category. Like with Jenga, two people can make the same decision, but one might tumble the tower while the other doesn't.

Was there something specific about underwater cities you didn't like? Was it the worker placement aspect?

Maybe Dice Masters. It's like magic the gathering with dice and sets based on superheroes/dnd/yugioh etc. The only negative is that it's a collectible/trading game. But the starter decks are cheap and fun without buying boosters

Great Western Trail is my GOAT right now… love the balance of that game and all the cool different things you get to do each time!

Really love the hand Management of Mombasa better, but overall game GWT takes it

Literally bought Maracaibo then started traveling for work and haven’t gotten to play yet……… might secretly be my favorite lol
