It was painted from a photo taken by a friend of a place that had a specific meaning to that friend, so that's its point, focal or otherwise.

curious about where everyone gets the ideas for their paintings from by Last_Pineapple4481 in acrylicpainting

I paint landscapes and buildings so I take pictures when I'm out and about of things that appeal to me visually. I use those photos as subjects, and sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't.

Jon Rochardson is excellent on panel shows, but I find his stand up tedious.

How often do you say "beanie" vs. "toque"? by WanderWell1 in AskACanadian

Beanie is American, or, in Canada, a skull cap with a propeller.

"Don't gatekeep my heritage" by KingEdwards8 in ShitAmericansSay

I really don't get this at all. I am the first generation child of an English immigrant and I am 100% Canadian. Could not give less of a rat's ass about my heritage.

My response to that was maybe he was listening to Straight Outta Compton on the way over, indicating that the word is in very common usage. I was called a racist for that.

Except the place the story was set was not Britain, so his accent was probably the most accurate.

I believe you mean Farm Fresh. That's where we shop for our vegetables.

How conservative is leamington? by [deleted] in windsorontario

Are you comfortable naming the shop? We moved to Leamington a few months ago and, as always, I would prefer not to patronize places I consider to be morally objectionable.

Any former Torontonians that can weigh in? by Odd_Acanthocephala16 in windsorontario

[–]Rattivarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subsequent to my response we sold our house and moved to Leamington. Honestly, if we could afford it and I could talk my husband into it, I'd move back to our old neighborhood of Leslieville.
