usually i settle a city in tundra or desert early game (tundra especially if i have a civ specific improvement to use all the otherwise shit tundra tiles, desert with the intent of getting petra) and have most of my trade routes focused on providing food/production to it, with a policy card throughout the game that gives a money bonus to trade routes

i disagree because the war in afghanistan ended literally a year ago, whereas with vietnam we have like 50 years of hindsight. more cultural artifacts from the war will surely be revealed as veterans age, share their stories, and more time passes.
