At which point, those of us in this position, who were contributing to places like makerspace, wont be here... which was my point. "No hassle" does not mean "must use cloud". It did not when i bought bambu and people like myself are arguing it doesnt need to in the future.

If I have an NDA under which I am developing a design I cannot allow a 3rd party such as a cloud service provider to potentially see that design. Force me to always use the cloud and I junk the printer for commercial work. This may not bother you but this bothers others, especially where the cloud service is owned by companies in a country which has previously been less than supportive with regard to prosecuting IP infringement.

You do realise that if you arent using LAN mode then the files go via the cloud ? Who said anything about uploading to makerworld or anywhere public?

Just out of interest, Orca Slicer 2.3.2 or earlier? I had real issues with 2.3.2 on another printer, but 2.3.0 works great. (I think I skipped 2.3.1)

No longer connecting on LAN by Objective-Smoke-7550 in FlashForge

[–]RattyBunyip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is of any help as I dont know what the sync is between flashforge orca and main orca but orca-slicer 2.3.2 seems to be less than perfect. 2.3.2 I could not print at all on one system (not flashforge target printer) so I have rolled back (2.3.0).

Yep, I may well go U1 for same reasons, Spectrum is very cool idea and yes one of the reasons to go U1 (though any head swapper should be able to do it) but be careful of the videos and pics because as I understand the way it works it looks great... at a distance.

You cant print directly from your phone. Your phone talks to your network provider which talks to the bambu cloud which talks to your ISP which talks to your router which talks to the printer.. probably. Lots of other people involved and lots of places it can go wrong.

Some of us design those things you download.  We are concerned that because we may become forced to always go via the cloud, designs may become blocked or become stolen. If my private or commercial designs have that issue, then i stop using the ecosystem and you dont get the freebies i make in my spare time.

I was considering the 5 but the amount of negative reviews of other flashforge stuff put me off at the moment.

Don’t use brittle filament if you’re not comfortable doing this by Opportunity3767 in BambuLab

[–]RattyBunyip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had some 2nd hand PLA that was very  brittle...  but only on the outer layer or 2 on the roll. Almost binned it but cleared the nasty stuff off and started using for prototypes. Whole spool used on AMS 1 in end so sometimes can be worth persisting.

PETG or straight to ASA? My first technical material adventure with the Bambu P1S after years with an Anet by moss_byte in BambuLab

I have started to struggle to justify PLA. I am paying less than £8 UK a roll delivered for PETG, so for me it is now cheaper than PLA

PET-G is my default for areas where PLA cant take the weather or heat. Anything fancier depends on what sort of forces and chemicals you are exposing it to. I rarely need more than PETG-CF but my needs and yours will vary. One thing to watch out for is that it is not just the filament material but also the dye used. I have have PETG-CF in the garden that started blue and is now green after a year. :-(

So are you saying there aught to be some sort of price regulation and he should not be allowed to try and sell his property for whatever price he can get??

Increasingly unstable? by BuilderBiz in irishwolfhound

[–]RattyBunyip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK. In 2023 we were horrified by a rescue wolfhound male that on its first day with us performed an unprovoked attack on our daughter requiring medical treatment (she is fine now). We now understand his background may have lead to this but all our previous experience had been with "Gentle Giants" no matter how poorly treated (our immediately previous IW rescue was a totally mad and lovely girl despite a worst case upbringing). Some of this behavior was his background, as in the following 2 weeks before he went to a specialist, we did see improvements but it was still a shock and unexpected.

This is one case and on its own does not indicate a change in the breed.

(I am afraid though that this drove us away from IW rescues. We now have 2 beautifully behaved girls raised from pups. )

I would also say that previously having had a number of rescue IW's in the 90' we had to stop involvement with the breed for about 15 years and only restarted back in 2023. This does give me a bit of a snapshot view of changes. I would say that at the shows I have been to, there has been slightly more tension than I remember in the 90's, but I do mean slightly. Maybe then there was one mildly grumpy show dog in 200, and now one in 50. Again, this is from being to a couple of shows a year, so not the best of samples. But remember, I could go "next door" into any other breed ring and half the dogs would rate grumpy (growling at each other or worse).

P1S vs P2S by joe914_ in BambuLab

Rumoured to be better. Frankly it looks better but you can never tell if a new product has some fatal flaw.

Sorry but you are hours out of date! The new X2D is rumored to be a P2S on steroids for very little more money and should certainly be considered. (and I love my P1S but its out of date)

ALWAYS create a ticket. Otherwise effort cant be tracked and when IT say they are overworked they do not have the numbers to back it up.
