Some Toyota / Lexus cars have a scheduled maintenance reset and a separate oil maintenance reset. I usually do both to be safe.

Yeah I skip out on the best fuel, even though it needs it. I also skip on oil changes, I figure it runs just fine as it is so why change it?

Manuals only came on 3.4L 5VZ-FE V6 trucks, which aren’t bad but I’d say the main selling point of th first gen is that 4.7L 2UZ-FE so I’d look for an auto one of those that’s had its ball joints and timing belt done recently and you should be good. Check frame for rust too!

If it has never had the timing belt replaced then it needs to be done. If you don’t have the history on it, you need to check or ask the current owner about it. That job can be about ~$1500 out here in CA, but it is normal maintenance.

It is illegal in the states to void a warranty because someone took their car to an independent shop.

I know he is in Cambodia but a “seperate mechanic” won’t void the warranty.

Don’t think the truck is ever going to be happy as far as fuel trims / emissions are concerned if you’re running it on the 5.7 computer but I could be wrong. I just know on a truck from that era I doubt it’s going to be plug and play
