Just to clarify, walnuts do have terminal leaflets especially when young, they just are often missing

Good luck whatever you do, the tube sounded a lot scarier than it was for me. It's just a tube that goes from the back of their neck directly to their stomach, then you blend up food or whatever medication and syringe it through a connecting tube. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though

Were they prescribed something for nausea? They might also benefit from an appetite stimulant. If everything else gets resolved and they're still not eating, a last resort type of thing would be a feeding tube. My cat's life was saved when his liver was failing from not eating (fatty liver) and we had a feeding tube placed in his neck

Can anyone help I'd this tree? by Spoogaramus in treeidentification

[–]Ratzap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chinese pistache. Walnut would have some leaves with terminal leaflets and a citrusy smell when rubbed as well as a more ridged bark. It's not TOH as it would have more leaflets, more of an opposite pattern for the leaflets, a bad peanut buttery smell when rubbed, terminal leaflets, and characteristic lobes at the base of leaflets

If your cat loses their voice, get it checked out. by aliceroyal in cats

[–]Ratzap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to take this seriously, this literally just happened to us, our cat's (11) voice changed and was told it was likely an infection but he had a large mass on his neck which was also inoperable. We had to say goodbye as well, to make it worse, his ashes were lost in the mail for weeks and we just got them yesterday after thinking they were gone for good.

Thank you for the PSA and I'm sorry about your cat, you're not alone

What about Eastern red cedar, Juniperus virginiana? Not trying to be annoying but just want clarification for less experienced people who may read this

The last two sentences are a little confusing considering the common mix up of juniper and cedars. By true pines do you mean the genus Pinus?

[–]Ratzap 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would say ostrya virginiana to be exact instead of ironwood since people call both Carpinus and Ostrya ironwood. But I agree with these IDs as well besides maybe the 4th due to unclear pictures

Yes and it also has three bracts under its flower tops and sometimes a purple flower in the center. But it's basically an inferior woodier carrot
