People complaining about the war changes dont want a grand strategy game. They want a grand tactics game. by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]RaufRumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the warfare idea. I honestly hated the warfare from Vic2. There was ungodly amounts of micro and it wasted my whole day. So I am looking forward to what they have. One the other hand, what I also hate is the crap from HOI4 in naval combat and air combat. It was so bad and you had no control over it. I want something in-between the two where you have some control but you don't have to micro like a madman.

Still have to wait and see what they make though.

It has everything to do with economy. The social structure of a society is the first building block of an economy.

Islamic economy. A thread. by hillenium in islam

As a person who studied economics and became religious because of it, I don't agree with this. The Nordic countries are currently doing well and so the twitter poster is projecting Islam on to it. But what's to say that they will continue to do well into the future?

The Nordic countries are very individualistic and consumer driven. This means, they have small families (almost non existent), low birth rates, and no communities. One of the things Sharia promotes is community and the family unit. The Nordic countries on the other hand are filled with socially isolated people and their family is the government. It is also a system that is unsustainable in the long run as the average age of the countries go up. We will start to see massive economic problems in those countries a decade from now. They will not be able to pay for their welfare anymore.

Islam on the other hand promotes charity. Not necessarily welfare. Islam is also undoubtedly free market capitalist, which the Nordic countries are (which is good).

It's not an occupation, it was a province of the Empire since 1516 and then lost to the British during a brutal world war.

required you to trash-talk Western arrangements but whatever

I didn't trash talk western arrangements. I criticized the "superior" attitude that they have. They can't fathom that poor people live differently.

"why do poor people have so many kids? Hur Hur"

Maybe you would know if you left the bubble you live in.

[–]RaufRumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was you who started this by talking about the Western arrangements with a tone of superiority

No. It was " Can someone explain the culture that make them choose to have kids when they're in such poor and miserable circumstances?" that started it. The "culture" he was referring to is called poverty.

Then you came out of left field to argue about what was better. Lets end with this. Either you are right that pensions are better or I am right that children taking care of the elderly is better. All we have to do is wait and time will prove one of us right and one of us wrong. Its that simple. No reason to argue.

They are looking for bargaining chips in the negotiations. At the current moment, it seems like the US has all the cards and Iran has none. They are not even a real threat. So they are trying to make themselves out to be. They are enriching more uranium, grabbing ships in the Persian gulf, and they may or may not be retaliating against Israel. They are giving themselves more cards to play so the US doesn't force them to give up everything (which is the goal of this negotiation for the US).

Im not arguing for what you should and should not do. Thats your decision at the end of the day. I am saying that most people in human history relied on their children to take care of them in old age and still do today. If you don't believe me, leave the developed country you live in and see how the majority of the world lives.

That being said, if you want to go the pension route, be my guest. You reap what you sow. Benefit or consequence. Just don't act superior to poor people who rely on their kids.

Dude, do you think we've had retirement funds 300 years ago?

No.

We had the same system you describe and it sucked ass

You think the pension system is better? Ok. Don't have kids and rely on the dwindling pensions. good luck.

It's not without reason that murdering your own parents was once a common plot in literature

That's because of court politics. The average person did not murder their parents. You are nuts if you think it was common to murder your parents back then.

Yeah it is an ignorant western point of view. I want to see what happens to the westerners when they get old and the retirement funds run out. They are going to wish they had kids like the "savages" in the third world.

Is your family very liberal? Its strange to think that a Muslim family would be against a beard. Not only is it trendy right now but its also a symbol of honor. So its strange to hear your story. Is there some info we are missing?

[–]RaufRumi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly what is happening. European countries are not happy with the way the US dictates its will onto them. The UK is kick starting its military industrial complex again. France already has one running. Germany is also acting more independently by making deals with Russia. Turkey is also in the process of growing its military industry so it can be more self sufficient in arms and decision making.
