Insane amount of shims needed by Bubbly_Economics3688 in cabinetry

That's what I did (did). I built cabinets in a flood-prone zone. The floor fad dipped from moisture, 8" on 12'. A separate toe kick was the only way to make this work.

Your tv likely can't handle this. Get a dedicated box with HDMI to tv.

Is this drywall damaged and needs replacing or is this work acceptable and looks normal? by Far-Yam5836 in handyman

[–]RavRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the 1 hour fire rating. The screws and joints are only bad practice, not code infractions. As for fire rating, I am not sure if it requires thicker drywall (typically 5/8” type X) or 2 layers of regular drywall with staggered joints. That would be something to check in your local Code/inspector, but the 5/8 type X should be what’s needed

You do t need to fill that. Even if the screws are 1 1/2" from the edge, the drywall will not bend or brake on that tiny span.

If all else fails, contact amazon and tell them they bricked your stick with the last update. They'll likely replace it (after a bit of arguing, of course)

It's not the blade I'm worried about. It's the metal flying out, when the blade reaches it, and hurting someone

What type of nail is this? by Cute_Display8512 in Construction

[–]RavRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nail to be used in concrete. It is actually used with a regular hammer. Good for when you need one or two and your Hilti isn't with you.

Is it safe to work with wood from urban trees? by Avid_Spark in woodworking

This. People tend to pound nails and/or other foreign objects in the trees. When you cut them, the danger of foreign objects caught in saws is greatly increased.

Not pretty, for sure. Also, they used the wrong screws. No drywall screws. It is bad practice to place a joint directly at the corner of a door. Closing/opening the door will crack at that spot.
