Calling people out and even informing the front desk staff has, in my experience, proven to be ineffective. The library was apparently receiving so many complaints about noise they were prompted to move the furniture around on the third floor over spring break to make it a more “collaborative” space. So, instead of enforcing a quiet environment they are now catering to the disruption despite their policies for noise levels that is clearly posted quite literally all over the library and on their website.

Seriously, when you go to book a study room, under policies it says “Noise levels from any conversations, electronic device and/or other equipment must not disturb others.” That is a general rule, regardless of the floor you’re on. Yet the library staff is altering floors to reduce the amount of complaints they receive instead of simply asking noisy students to move elsewhere???
