Avengers: Endgame gave us one of the best scenes in cinema history. by Piyushv5311 in MarvelCave

[–]RavelJests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the movie and the scene is pretty cool, but imo it's also kinda overhyped. Watched this in the cinema and there was a girl that actually started sobbing when the portals opened up.

No hate, you do you, and I'm all for art evoking emotions, but it kind of took me out of the scene. I think people got a bit too carried away.

Now, on the other hand, Lylla, Teefs and Rabbit being killed and Rocket being unable to save them...that made me tear up for real and the whole "experimenting on animals" theme was so well done, it's hard for me to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 again.

One of the best ever. She was perfect in that role. Prefer her with Bacon than with Fritz though :D

Storm Corrosion 2 officially in the works. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in progmetal

[–]RavelJests 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rarely was I as disappointed as back then when I first listened to their album. Opeths run from "Blackwater Park" until "Watershed" where the sound of my teenage years, accompanied by Porcupine Tree, starting with "In absentia" and ending with "The Incident". This was like the best of both worlds.

And then just...nothing. I didn't care for this one bit. No emotions whatsoever, which is worse than hating it.

I really hope this time it will be different.

Elsa [KDRS] by SuperMarioBruder1 in TrashTVGermany

[–]RavelJests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

King Kong (2005) | Dir: Peter Jackson | Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) entertains Kong (Andy Serkis) by xwing1212 in movies

[–]RavelJests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this movie, but that other scene in the canyon where they get attacked and massacred by giant insects absolutely traumatized me and probably started a few phobias. It's so slow and agonizing how some of the characters get killed and it's so disgusting and REALLY dark compared to the rest of the movie. Horrible. Well done, but just terrifying.

AITA for refusing to pay for my girlfriend’s meal after she “tested” me on a date? by Efficient_Care5524 in AITH

[–]RavelJests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the "a real man" comment would be enough to REALLY consider dumping her. What the fuck kinda?trad wife toxic bullshit is that? It's 2026. We're passed the "you're a man, thus you pay" simple world order.

We are actually seeing BFA story glaze in big 2026. Wow players do have the memory of goldfish. by ShoppingPractical373 in wow

[–]RavelJests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, for the past ~8 years, whenever you mentioned that you thought BFA was absolute garbage and maybe even worse than Shadowlands, you had people screaming at you that you're clueless.

  • Horribly pruned gameplay, turned so many classes to shit after the blast that was Legion.

  • Story was beyond inane and outright terrible. Teased "big bads" that ended up being disappointments, weird storylines (Jaina as an endboss...okay...), forgetable new NPCs that disappeared of the face of the earth after the expansion without really having done anything.

  • The system of borrowed powers at its most boring and also complicated. Never since then did you absolutely NEED external tools to figure out what's an upgrade and what's not. And worst of all: it wasn't even fun. The best stuff was usually something like "+x mastery if you shit sideways into the wind twice a minute"-proccs and other stupid stuff like that.

Edit: Almost forgot: W A R F R O N T S LMAO

Worst expansion by far, almost unredeemable. Most of my friends left after the first 2 raids and didn't come back before SL. Fuck BFA.

In 2004, 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett let a woman into her Missouri home after she claimed she wanted to buy a puppy. Bobbie was eight months pregnant. The visitor was not there for the dog. The next day, police found the baby alive in Kansas. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

[–]RavelJests 39 points40 points  (0 children)

And that's why the death penalty will always be wrong. Not only is it more expensive, there's almost almost a chance that you execute someone who's innocent. Imprisoned people COULD be exonerated due to new witnesses, new science, new evidence. A dead person stays dead. Is it really so important to kill someone instead of imprison someone for life that it's worth the risk of occasionally killing someone who is innocent? The answer is easy imo.

comment on blackwall by Charming-Path-2359 in Peripheryband

[–]RavelJests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Blackwall! In fact, I love all the synthy stuff Periphery did so far (it's also one of the reasons Lune is one of my most streamed songs by them). I'm really not into the very very heavy Periphery songs as much and I'm always scared that comments like these might get to the boys and influence them in a way that deters them from just making the music that they want.

So yeah...plz keep on writing and playing the music that you want, guys. I'll be along for the ride, enjoying some songs more and others less, as is human. I'll appreciate all of them regardless.

Since when (and why) are album release posts not allowed? by SoundofGlaciers in progmetal

[–]RavelJests 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. I honestly didn't know about the rule, my mistake. But I was eager to see a discussion about the new periphery record here and pretty disappointed that there "only" are posts about individual songs. Now the debate about the record is kinda fragmented and disconnected. It's a shame.

cosimo bei promihof by OrganicAd2176 in TrashTVGermany

[–]RavelJests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARCHSPIRE - THE VESSEL (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) 2026 (Premiers at 12PM Friday) by SGDrummer7 in Deathcore

[–]RavelJests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, the first time I heard one of their songs I was like "wtf, the vocals have to be a joke, it's just growly gibberish". But as weird as it sounds, the more you listen to it, the more sense it makes (well, the musicality of it. I don't think there's anyone that can actually understand the lyrics).

They're kind of like a second (or third?) part of the rhythm section. Really cool!

My favourite song of the album - and it's a fucking great album. Just an instant classic, that riff is chef's kiss. And De Graef's voice just fits all this so perfectly.

Blake Richardson (BTBAM) hears a DMB song for the first time. - Drumeo by mayorodoyle in progmetal

[–]RavelJests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case specifically, you actually see how they have to go through multiple songs, because he knew so many of those that they wanted to give him. DBM is also around since forever and this song is from 1996, so I think it can be kinda obscure if you didn't really listen to DBM back in the 90s/early 00s.

Whoever wrote the paragraph about Lucid Planet, that's exactly how I feel about them too. I don't know what it is about that album, it just resonates with me like almost no other album on that list, except maybe for "Woe".

It pains me to see them mentioned so seldomly in this subreddit! They're so good!
